The Senior Social History Conservator will have specialist expertise in the care and conservation of obects and collections which represent the lived experiences of the people of Wales. This is a senior role within Amgueddfa Cymru’s archaeology team, which consists of curators, collections care and access staff, PAS Cymru and Treasure staff. The team is part of the History and Collection Development Department which works across all Amgueddfa Cymru sites.
It will be based at National Museum Cardiff, but with a requirement to work at other Amgueddfa Cymru venues which store or display archaeological material. The CELF Senior Paper Conservator will have specialist expertise in the care and conservation of works in that discipline. The focus of this post will be on works by contemporary artists that are being digitised and/or lent to partner galleries as part of the CELF project.
Key Responsibilities- Leading on remedial conservation treatments of selected modern and contemporary artworks on paper that have been triaged as requiring conservation during the mapping of the collection.
- Condition checking and remedial treatment of modern, contemporary and historic works on paper for Amgueddfa Cymru Exhibitions, often including challenging materials.
- Facilitating our programme of loans to museums and galleries across Wales, the UK, and internationally. Advising on loan conditions, undertaking condition reporting and conservation on works on paper that are being lent.
- Research and planning for the development of Amgueddfa Cymru’s collection care and acquisition practices for complex contemporary art installations, including liaison with living artists.
- Develop and maintain the Paper Conservation Studio, including requesting supplies and equipment as necessary, updating health and safety documentation, cleaning and responsible disposal of waste.
- Provide tours and talks for the public, partner galleries and other staff members to share knowledge of conservation and the collection at Amgueddfa Cymru.
- Support partner galleries as a conservation liaison, responding to queries and advising on best practice where necessary.
- Undertake virtual/physical couriering as required.
- Working with the Art Technicians and external contractors, manage and undertake mounting, framing and building of supports such as cradles as required.
- Specify packing methods and materials for transport and storage.
- Work with external contractors such as technicians on Amgueddfa Cymru collections.
- Commercial responsibility: every member of staff has responsibility for the commercial success of Amgueddfa Cymru. Specifically for this role: The role will create a legacy of works which have been treated and prepared for display and loan internationally as well as in Wales.

As our Kitchen Porter you will work as part of the Food & Beverage team, responsible for both kitchen cleanliness and the receiving and storage of deliveries.
You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all food safety, allergen, and health and safety processes, policies and procedures, completing all training and paperwork as required.
This role is part of the Food & Beverage team and is line managed by the Food & Beverage Supervisor team.
Key Responsibilities- Ensuring that all kitchen and back of house areas are cleaned and maintained in line with food safety and health & safety policies
- Assisting with the receipt and storage of deliveries, and collation of all required delivery paperwork e.g. invoices
- Washing, drying and storing correctly all equipment used in the kitchen and food service areas
- Supporting the Front of House team in clearing food service areas, including the café, restaurant and function room spaces
- Ensuring accurate completion of food safety paperwork as required, including delivery checklists and temperature checklists
- Promptly reporting any equipment maintenance or health & safety issues to the F&B Supervisor team
- Completing opening, closing and shift cleaning duties and checklists as required
- Supporting the kitchen team in stock management and stock rotation
- Removing kitchen waste in line with the museum’s waste strategy
