Summary of duties
Before the concert begins:
- Meet and greet audience members.
- From the list of pre-booked ticket holders, tick off names / scan tickets as they enter the hall. Pass this information on to the School of Music member of staff present.
- Hand our concert programmes and provide information about the performance.
- Guide audience into the concert hall and ensure seats are occupied without being moved.
- Once audience is seated, liaise with the Back of House to let them know the performance can begin.
During the concert:
- One member of the Front of House team to sit in the hall to ensure the smooth running of the performance and be placed ready to escort the audience out of the building should an emergency occur.
After the concert:
- Thank audience members for attending and hand out flyers/promotional material for upcoming concerts if applicable.
- One member of the Front of House team will stand at the stage door to prevent audience members from accessing the backstage area.
- Once the hall has been vacated, Front of House staff will ensure seats are tidy and in place.
Admin:
- There may be occasions where you will be required to carry out light admin duties to support the running of these performances, e.g. photocopying, printing, taking photos for record purposes.
Backstage
Before the concert begins:
- The person working backstage will provide effective liaison with the artist and facilitate the artist(s) access from the Green Room (G.04) to the stage.
- The team member working backstage will make themselves known to the performer(s).
- 5 and 2 minutes before the scheduled start of the performance the team member will inform the artist(s) of the time.
- 1 minute prior to the performance’s scheduled start time, the artist(s) will be brought to the stage door and will open the door to usher that artist(s) into the concert when the appropriate message is received from Front of House.
- Once the performance has begun, the team member will stay at the stage door until the end of the performance.
After the performance:
- A member of the Front of House team will position themselves at the auditorium side of the stage door to prevent backstage access by audience members.
- The backstage team member will escort the artist(s) to G.04.

We are seeking a dynamic Language Assistant to join our outstanding Languages Faculty. If you are a native speaker of Spanish and have a passion for teaching or engaging in meaningful discussions about the culture and current events of your country, this opportunity is ideal for you.
Your primary role will be to lead conversation classes with our enthusiastic Sixth Form students, helping them prepare for their speaking exams. A local school in the Cathays area of Cardiff is looking for invigilators to cover the upcoming exam period.
Available Shifts:
• Wednesday 12th November 8:00AM- 12:00 PM (approximate finish time)
Attendance is imperative, as without enough invigilators, exams will have to be cancelled. Please only apply if you are certain you will be available for the full shift.

Invigilators will need to ensure:

The target audience for this programme will be engineers who have an interest in changing career and may consider the South Wales semiconductor industry. For example, mid-career engineers and/or recent graduates who have completed an industrial placement.
The engineers we recruit may have a variety of backgrounds/experience. As well as electrical and mechanical engineers, we’ll be looking for those with experience in cyber security (cyber engineers), facilities management, health & safety, equipment maintenance & repair etc., as these are all roles required by the South Wales semiconductor industry.
The 3-day programme will provide participants with a solid understanding and experience of the industry and the employers operating across South Wales. Following their attendance we hope this programme will generate a healthy interest in this growing sector, with many participants going on to apply for jobs. This is the overall aim of the programme.
The intention is to pilot the programme in March ’26 (dates tbc), with up to 20 participants, and then run further cohorts from late spring ’26 onwards.
The pilot programme is being developed under the CSconnected Strength in Places Fund (SIPF) project, and the activity is being managed by Cardiff University’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Unit.

About the role
The Venues Department are seeking a number of technical crew from a variety of backgrounds, ranging from keen students to experienced technicians looking for some extra work on the side.
Technical crew are the backbone of all live events at Cardiff Students' Union, from programming and operating lighting for a live music gig to supporting our student societies with their technical requirements.
The ideal candidates will have strong problem-solving and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Technical Crew will be required to work unsociable hours.
Job description
As part of our technical team, you’ll be instrumental in bringing to life over 100 live music and nightclub events each year, as well as a variety of other events, including corporate functions, conferences, and student society gatherings.
This role is all about blending technical knowledge with creativity, as you’ll handle everything from stage builds and rigging to sound and lighting setups. Working closely with the Technical Co-ordinator, you’ll help craft each event to the highest standards, ensuring every detail aligns with the vision. Safety and efficiency are paramount, as you’ll uphold rigorous health and fire safety protocols, manage technical stores, and guide local crew.
You’ll have opportunities to engage directly with artists and touring bands and contribute to an ever-changing schedule of vibrant events. This position promises a dynamic, rewarding experience where no two days are the same.
Hours for this role vary week to week but expect to be busier in term-time.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the cleaning team, which forms part of the Facilities Department. Based in the Students’ Union building on Park Place, Cardiff, the successful candidate will provide effective support to our busy department which operates to 24/7.
We are looking for a part time casual evening cleaner working on Wednesday evening and Friday/ Saturday evenings, 8pm to 5am to cover all aspects of cleaning including - mopping, vacuuming, dusting, washing, wiping, buffing, window/glass cleaning, and toilet/shower facilities.
Shift pattern: 2 shifts per week, 8pm to 5am (with ½ hour unpaid break) every Wednesday evening, and one other night.

Based in the Exams Team you will provide Invigilation support for University Examinations. Currently we require additional support for the Autumn Exam period from Monday 12th January to Monday 19th January 2026.

This is a physically demanding role where you will need to set up venues with desk numbers and layout and collect exam papers, supervise the conduct of the exam, and walk around for long periods to monitor activity and support students.
