Role Young Carers Services ManagerHours 37 hours per weekSalary £35,000

Young carers across our communities provide vital care and support to family members every day – often whilst balancing school, friendships and time for themselves with these responsibilities at home. We believe they deserve to be recognised early, supported well, and given every opportunity to thrive.

We’re looking for an experienced, connected and passionate Young Carer Services Manager to lead and grow our young carers service.

This is more than a service delivery role. We are looking for someone who can champion young carers strategically across Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough – building relationships, influencing decision-makers, and ensuring our organisation is around the right tables with local authorities, schools, health partners, the Integrated Care Board (ICB), community organisations, and funders.

You will help strengthen our profile, develop new partnerships and identify opportunities to sustain and grow services for young carers and their families.

Ideally, you will already have an established professional network within Norfolk (preferred) or Cambridgeshire children’s services, health, education, voluntary or commissioning landscape.

About Caring Together Charity

For over 40 years we have been supporting families who are living with an illness or disability.

Our vision is a world with no unpaid carer in crisis, isolated or struggling alone. Three in five of us will become a carer at some point in our lives and Caring Together Charity is here to provide emotional and practical support and advice to carers of all ages and their families.

What you’ll be doing

Imagine being the lifeline for someone who dedicates their life to caring for a loved one. You’ll be:

  • Leading the delivery and development of high-quality support services for young carers.
  • Managing and supporting staff and volunteers to deliver safe, effective and child-centred services.
  • Building strong partnerships with schools, local authorities, health services, community organisations and other stakeholders.
  • Representing the charity at strategic meetings, forums and partnership groups.
  • Developing relationships with commissioners, funders and decision-makers to help grow and sustain services.
  • Raising awareness of young carers across Norfolk and increasing identification and referrals.
  • Helping shape new projects and opportunities in response to local need.
  • Ensuring the voices of young carers influence service development and delivery.
  • Leading on safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people.

Who we’re looking for someone who

  • Has experience managing or leading services for children and/or young people
  • Has strong knowledge of safeguarding and child-centred practice.
  • Can demonstrate experience of partnership working across sectors.
  • Is confident building relationships with senior stakeholders, commissioners and funders.
  • Has experience developing networks and representing services externally.
  • Understands the local authority strategy for the support of young people and carers across the East of England and ideally already has established local relationships and connections.
  • Is proactive, organised and able to balance strategic development with operational delivery.
  • Is passionate about improving outcomes for children, young people and families.
  • Experience of managing budgets/funding streams would be advantageous.

Experience working with young carers is desirable, but we also welcome applicants with transferable experience from youth services, family support, education, health, social care or the voluntary sector.
