Emmaus (pronounced eh-may-us) Glasgow is a homelessness charity with a difference. We don’t just give people a bed for the night; we offer a home, meaningful work and a sense of belonging.
We are based in the north west of Glasgow – supporting up to 27 homeless people in our residential project, which we term our community, who help to operate social enterprises and give back to our local, national and international communities.
Our project operates on an ethos of equality, respect and collaborative working.
We are seeking a full time Support Worker – resident support and training, to join our small team. The role will be to provide practical, emotional and development support to the people who live with us, who we call our companions.
Key aspects of the role
- Keywork with an allocation of companions – establishing personal support care plans and providing support for companions to reach personal goals through everyday activities and planned 1-1 sessions. Ensure recording system is up to date.
- Support the everyday running of our homeless project, which we refer to as our community, and be responsive and flexible to the needs of companions throughout the day.
- Become a V1 assessor to develop training opportunities for residents to achieve Core Skills awards within the SCQF/ SQA framework.
- Undertake On Call telephone access as required (currently 1 week per month).
Person skills
We are looking for someone with integrity, respect and compassion and is committed to working alongside our companions and who is willing to be flexible in what is required in their day. An understanding of the trauma impact of homelessness is essential.
You must hold a qualification relevant to being a Support Worker in a Housing Support Service and be able to register with SSSC.
After interviews, the successful candidate will need to provide evidence of right to work in the UK and complete a PVG check.

- Ability to engage with young people individually using creative and imaginative methods and processes.

The Pre-School Centre at Lancaster University is looking to recruit a Support Assistant-Food .
The post is indefinite and offers a contract based on working 15 hours per week, 3 hours per day for 52 weeks of the year.
Hours of work are typically 11.30 am - 2.30 pm, Monday - Friday.
All staff benefit from 25 days Annual Leave in addition to University statutory and closure days.

The Pre-School Centre is open all year and caters for approximately 200 children between the ages of 3 months and 5 years. As an In Work Support Senior, you will lead and develop a team of In Work Support Specialists, ensuring each colleague manages a caseload of up to 20 employed clients who require additional, tailored support to sustain and progress in their roles.
The post holder will set and ensure high-quality, person‑centred practice, championing independence throughout the client journey and aligning delivery with our established quality standards and frameworks. The Bridge Project has been providing support since 1983. We work with individuals, families and communities to improve people’s lives in a sustainable way, recognising that solutions are often complex. Today we have a strong staff team of 120 dedicated individuals who address a range of issues such as homelessness, substance misuse, sex working, housing, employment and lots more.
We have an exciting opportunity to work as a Floating Support Worker within the Bridge Recovery Housing team. The role is a full-time permanent position, it is a key role to support people with drug or alcohol problems by helping them to maintain their tenancy. You will be working in the community and visiting people in their own homes, so it is crucial that you have a driving licence and access to a vehicle in order to carry out this role. The people you will work with will be facing challenges and may be at risk of becoming homeless. It is therefore essential that you have experience of supporting people with vulnerabilities and/or challenging behaviour. At times people do present in a crisis situation, so it is important that the successful candidate has excellent communication and negotiating skills and is able to work calmly and effectively with people and have a positive outlook and is able to build productive relationships.
We are looking for someone who can work independently, is highly organised and is able to manage their time effectively but who is also a team player. A good knowledge of housing management issues, safeguarding and welfare benefits and entitlement is essential.
This is a 37.5 hour post, Monday – Friday, 9.00am-5.00pm, however, there is an element of flexibility around working hours required by the postholder. A willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check is also a requirement of the post.

What do I need to bring with me?
You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You will have experience supporting people with mental ill health and complex needs, ideally within a community or outreach setting, and a strong commitment to helping service users achieve their goals and aspirations. You will bring excellent knowledge of mental health conditions, including signs, symptoms, and treatments, with the ability to recognise deterioration in mental health and respond appropriately. A good understanding of key working, person-centred support planning, and recovery-focused approaches is essential, alongside knowledge of health and safety when working in the community. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, promoting service users' rights, dignity, privacy, and choice at all times. Knowledge of welfare benefits relevant to the client group and a sound understanding of safeguarding, with the ability to address concerns effectively, are also key requirements for this role.
