To assist the Early Years Setting Manager and Early Years Setting Deputy Manager where and when necessary and be guided by them in delegation of tasks and working arrangements. To help provide within the setting, a balanced, structured curriculum paying due regard to current research on how children learn, and with particular reference to learning from first- hand experience, play and talk, and the development of appropriate skills and early literacy. Stokenchurch Dog Rescue (SDR) is looking to secure the services of an externally appointed Dog Trainer who can commit to 6 hours per week to support the development of our centre-based rescue dogs.
As our appointed Trainer, you will work directly with our rescue dogs helping them build the skills and confidence needed for adoption.
SDR is committed to using positive, reward-based reinforcement training methods. To maintain our high welfare standards and ensure our rescue dogs continue to thrive and develop, we require candidates to be ATBC‑registered and ideally CCAB‑certified.
We need the successful externally appointed trainer to help with the following;
- Delivery of dog training and behavioural guidance for our centre dogs
- Creating and implementing written training plans for our centre dogs
- Regularly reviewing the training plans to ensure they remain effective, achievable and supportive of each dog's progress within the kennel environment
- Communicating the training plans clearly to our staff to ensure consistent continuous development for the dogs.
The externally appointed contractor must hold their own public liability insurance to undertake this work. A copy of this policy will be requested for review before their services are engaged.
Services will be delivered under a formal service agreement outlining the scope of work, expectations, and terms of engagement.

We are looking for a volunteer to fill the role of Assistant Grounds Person.
The role is for week day mornings (ideally at least 3) to help us with general gardening duties & site maintenance. This will involve mowing, weeding, some basic maintenance and helping us to keep the site in tip top condition. We like our site to reflect the care we give to our dogs - so we need someone who is proud of their work environment and can "see" the jobs that need doing.
You will be working alongside our Grounds & Maintenance Co-Ordinator.

What the Trustee remit involves

- Attend monthly evening Board meetings and our Annual General Meeting (AGM)
- Participate in ad-hoc meetings and contribute to project work and fundraising initiatives as needed
- Collaborate with fellow trustees, staff, and volunteers to support the charity’s goals
- Visit the centre when required to stay connected with our operations and the dogs in our care
About you
If you don't yet have direct experience in grant funding we can give you the basics. What matters is your skill set and intiative. We’re looking for someone who brings a blend of professional expertise and commitment to our mission. You’ll have:
- Relevant experience in writing: applications, fundraising or related activities and if you have experience of charity governance as a trustee all to the better
- A commitment to the SDR’s core purpose, its values and ethics as well as an enthusiasm to devote the necessary time and effort
- Resourceful and analytical to find and assess opportunities to meet SDR's needs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
- A collaborative approach and a willingness to have an active involvement in working with the SDR team
- An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
- A genuine passion for animal welfare and a belief that every dog deserves a second chance
