The difference you will make as a Support Assistant
You will be key in the day-to-day running of one of our supported housing services. The priority in your role includes the safety and wellbeing of everyone in our accommodation, including our customers.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Engaging with customers daily to build their trust and encourage them to take part in various activities within the service and wider community.
• Working with customers to raise their awareness of local services and facilities to ensure they have access to training, education, and work.
• Carry out support planning and risk assessments for high need customers with the support of a Support Officer.
• Working with the Specialist Support Officer to arrange and facilitate group sessions or activities.
• Collaborating with relevant community agencies to ensure customers receive appropriate advice and support.
• Ensuring that key performance targets are met and that all customer records are up to date.

About the Role
International Students House (ISH) is seeking a dedicated Facilities General Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role is vital in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities, supporting maintenance, portering, and logistical services across our London properties. You will play a key role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. *This role is a 30 hour per week, permanent contract.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct regular maintenance and repairs across ISH properties, including fixtures, fittings, ventilation, mechanical services, and residential accommodation.

Respond to emergency and business-critical maintenance situations, liaising with managers and contractors.

Provide operational portering support, including the safe movement of goods, equipment, and furniture.

Assist with room setups, arrivals, departures, and event support.

Monitor and maintain health and safety standards, adhering to risk assessments and safe working practices.

Essential Skills and Experience

On Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons, hours may be adjusted if Mum attends a social activity (up to 4 hours, including wheelchair support).
Home visits will generally be a minimum of 1 hour 40 minutes.
About You:
You are compassionate, reliable, and confident in prompting and observing medication routines.
You have experience in Dementia Care.
You communicate clearly, show patience, and approach your work with understanding and respect.

We are looking to build a small, reliable, and trustworthy team of 2–3 female Personal Assistants to support my mother at home. She lives with dementia, diabetes, and other health conditions and requires assistance with personal care, meal preparation, medication prompts, observation, and mobility support (including wheelchair use).
Main Duties:
- Prepare meals and encourage Mum to eat
- Prompt and observe Mum’s medication routine (training provided – no administration required)
- Support Mum to attend social activities as needed, including wheelchair use
- Provide personal care
- Offer emotional and social support
Hours:
- Morning:7:50 am – 9:30 am
- Afternoon:11:50 am – 1:30 pm
- Evening:4:50 pm – 6:30 pm
This routine applies Monday to Sunday.
On Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons, hours may be adjusted if Mum attends a social activity (up to 4 hours, including wheelchair support).
Home visits will generally be a minimum of 1 hour 40 minutes.
About You:
You are compassionate, reliable, and confident in prompting and observing medication routines.
