This is a strategic and creative role at the heart of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People’s national fundraising and engagement efforts. The post holder will lead the development and delivery of national community and challenge event programmes across all four UK regions (England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland).
Using strong project and campaign management skills, the role will grow existing initiatives charity owned initiatives such as the Great British Dog Walk and the 28 Challenge and develop new, audience-led campaigns that inspire public participation, drive fundraising, and deepen long-term engagement with the charity.
In addition to the owned initiatives, the role will promote Hearing Dogs for Deaf People to participants of external national events such as The Great North Run or the London Marathon.
The ultimate objectives are to drive income generation and guide supporters from initial involvement to becoming volunteers for the broader work of the charity and legacy pledgers.
We’re looking for a Partnership Trainer to guide new hearing dog partnerships through their first steps together. You’ll:
• Lead our placement course – blending virtual, home-based, and centre training.

This role is hybrid and will based from our Northern Centre in Bielby, York, East Yorkshire.
In this practical, hands-on position, you’ll be responsible for making sure their physical and emotional needs are met with excellence. From overseeing routine care and health to supporting volunteers, your work will be vital to each dog’s journey through training.
You’ll be trained in national wellbeing protocols, how to provide tailored healthcare support, and how to triage when issues arise. Collaboration is key - you’ll work closely with volunteers and team members, offering advice, technical expertise, and encouragement to help them thrive in their roles.
Your responsibilities will also include:
- Supporting volunteers through the various life stages
- Attending puppy classes and veterinary visits (some travel and overnight stays may be required)
- Delivering training on everyday canine health practices
- Sharing updates with internal teams
- Helping volunteers build confidence and skills
Job Title: Director of Digital Transformation Programme

Purpose of the Role
The Director of Digital Transformation will be responsible for the development and delivery of our Digital Roadmap, providing leadership across the organisation to:
- Improve operational efficiency and user experience in the delivery of our supporter, applicant, recipient and volunteering journeys;
- Enhance accessibility to our services;
- Enabling HD to leverage existing data (including appropriate use of AI) and extend the range of data sources to provide deeper insights into performance and impact, which HD will use to improve decision-making, resource allocation and service delivery as well as grow income, based on evidence;
- improve reporting and data visualisation
- implement scalable solutions and technology, that can grow in line with HD's strategic goals; and
- implement and sustain a high level of data protection and cyber security.
Working collaboratively across departments, the postholder will develop a clear and actionable digital transformation programme, agree priorities and budgets with Digital Transformation Programme Board members, recruit the necessary resources and/or consultancy support to deliver the benefits of digital transformation.
The postholder will be the de facto Chief Technology Officer, with the full remit for IT services and is supported by an established IT team of 9 (8FTE).
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Collaboration
- Develop the Digital Roadmap in conjunction with key stakeholders across the organisation to meet the strategic priorities of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People
- Work closely with the Director of Performance Marketing and Communications to develop a new Data Strategy which will underpin the implementation of a Customer Data Platform
- Work closely with teams across the organisation tasked with developing and implementing change in how we deliver our services, in particular the Head of Service Design and Development
- Build partnerships with external stakeholders (e.g. corporate partners, service users, suppliers) to support successful delivery and skill transfer
- Engage with the Head of Commercial in sourcing potential pro bono advice and support
- Build robust business cases for each stage of the digital transformation, including measures of success relating to improved digital maturity and organisational effectiveness
- Support the Board-led Digital Transformation Programme Board, ensuring they have timely and sufficient information to enable them to carry out their responsibilities
- Ensure each stage of the programme has clear project plans, decision-points, appropriate resource allocation and active management of risks and opportunities
- Deliver the programme to time and budget
- Identify and champion new digital technologies, processes and solutions that might contribute to the achievement of the digital transformation goals, ensuring solutions have longevity and are sustainable and affordable into the future
- Develop a scorecard for digital maturity which can be tracked over a number of years, helping to demonstrate the outcome of our investment in digital and data solutions
- Support the IT team to develop and implement good practices in design, development, testing and documentation of all solutions and databases deployed across the organisation

- Our IT team is primarily located at our Buckinghamshire base, but this role can also be on a hybrid basis.
- This role requires confidence in dealing with the volunteers on a day to day basis including one to one work with volunteers and holding group classes where learning has to take place to progress the dog.
- An ability to adapt delivery style from teacher, mentor & coach as appropriate.
- Awareness of the needs of lip readers and able to adapt communication appropriately when required
- Awareness of and basic skills in British Sign Language, communication with deafblind and/or children is desirable
- Manage, prioritise and calmly deliver a range of demands on both a day-to-day and long term basis
- Ability to work with minimum supervision, problem solve and handle people and situations with tact and diplomacy.

Role: Front of House Manager

Core Purpose
To manage the Front of House function at The Grange main site, including Reception, Staff/Volunteers Barn restaurant, Stables Accommodation, The Grange Restaurant and any other customer-facing areas and activities at the site.
Key Activities
- Act as the main Client Manager for the restaurant at The Grange to ensure a strong collaborative working partnership ensuring the highest standard of service delivery, operation and best practice to maintain the charity’s reputation and monitor costs
- Directly lead, motivate and support the Front of House team including reception staff to ensure smooth running of the front desk and delivery of exceptional customer service.
- Act as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Front of House, Restaurant and Gardening Volunteers and ensure Volunteers are supported and motivated in their role
- Coordinate internal and external events on The Grange site and manage any catering requirements for events and hospitality.
- Manage the use of shared spaces on the Grange site and oversee any accommodation needs; support events at the Grange, e.g. staff or volunteer events
- Ensure provision of and instruct and oversee external contractors for the FOH function, including cleaning contracts and laundry services and ensure all contracts are kept up to date and provide value for money for the charity.

Role: Maintenance Technician
Reporting to: Head of Estates
Location: On-site, The Beatrice Wright Centre, York, YO42 4JP

We are looking for someone to provide a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, and volunteers by responding to, and delivering a range of maintenance tasks.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure the Grange Estate buildings and grounds are maintained to a high standard of repair providing a safe and professional environment that is always presented at its best internally/externally on a day-to-day basis. Assessing maintenance needs to ‘make-safe’ and complete the works quickly and effectively.
Undertake repairs and maintenance to the buildings to a consistently high standard. Tasks will include joinery, plumbing, glazing, electrical repairs/ renovations, decorating, light renovations, Site equipment maintained (i.e. washing machines/tumble dryers), etc. Risk Assessing with an agile approach with strict adherence to legal H&S standards at all times.
Utilise the Maintenance Management System prioritising the maintenance work and keeping accurate records of all works completed and ensuring excellent communication with colleagues and peers.
Undertake and accurately record the scheduled compliance checks: weekly, monthly, and quarterly relating to fire safety, legionella, Site building PPM’s & Maintenance Equipment safety checks.
Act as a site H&S representative at all times demonstrating vigilance and awareness of responsibilities relating to legal compliance. Always acting with professionalism.
Attend to the security of site – locking/unlocking the site working closely with others to ensure site securty.
Support the Estates team in planning and delivering minor works and project programmes.
Provide Facilities Support: setup/clear down rooms and the grounds for conferences, meetings, tours, and events; safley and effectively support colleagues across the site with office furniture moves and the distribution of deliveries.
Supporting the front and back of house teams e.g. within The Grange Restaurant and Reception.

Key Responsibilities:Story & Content Strategy- Lead the development and implementation of an organisation-wide storytelling strategy that builds our brand, increases engagement among supporters and volunteers and encourages more people to access our services
