This is a strategic and creative role at the heart of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People’s national fundraising and engagement efforts. The post holder will lead the development and delivery of national community and challenge event programmes across all four UK regions (England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland).
Using strong project and campaign management skills, the role will grow existing initiatives charity owned initiatives such as the Great British Dog Walk and the 28 Challenge and develop new, audience-led campaigns that inspire public participation, drive fundraising, and deepen long-term engagement with the charity.
In addition to the owned initiatives, the role will promote Hearing Dogs for Deaf People to participants of external national events such as The Great North Run or the London Marathon.
The ultimate objectives are to drive income generation and guide supporters from initial involvement to becoming volunteers for the broader work of the charity and legacy pledgers.

This role is hybrid and will based from our Northern Centre in Bielby, York, East Yorkshire.
In this practical, hands-on position, you’ll be responsible for making sure their physical and emotional needs are met with excellence. From overseeing routine care and health to supporting volunteers, your work will be vital to each dog’s journey through training.
You’ll be trained in national wellbeing protocols, how to provide tailored healthcare support, and how to triage when issues arise. Collaboration is key - you’ll work closely with volunteers and team members, offering advice, technical expertise, and encouragement to help them thrive in their roles.
Your responsibilities will also include:
- Supporting volunteers through the various life stages
- Attending puppy classes and veterinary visits (some travel and overnight stays may be required)
- Delivering training on everyday canine health practices
- Sharing updates with internal teams
- Helping volunteers build confidence and skills
Job Title: Director of Digital Transformation Programme

Purpose of the Role
The Director of Digital Transformation will be responsible for the development and delivery of our Digital Roadmap, providing leadership across the organisation to:
- Improve operational efficiency and user experience in the delivery of our supporter, applicant, recipient and volunteering journeys;
- Enhance accessibility to our services;
- Enabling HD to leverage existing data (including appropriate use of AI) and extend the range of data sources to provide deeper insights into performance and impact, which HD will use to improve decision-making, resource allocation and service delivery as well as grow income, based on evidence;
- improve reporting and data visualisation
- implement scalable solutions and technology, that can grow in line with HD's strategic goals; and
- implement and sustain a high level of data protection and cyber security.
Working collaboratively across departments, the postholder will develop a clear and actionable digital transformation programme, agree priorities and budgets with Digital Transformation Programme Board members, recruit the necessary resources and/or consultancy support to deliver the benefits of digital transformation.
The postholder will be the de facto Chief Technology Officer, with the full remit for IT services and is supported by an established IT team of 9 (8FTE).
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Collaboration
- Develop the Digital Roadmap in conjunction with key stakeholders across the organisation to meet the strategic priorities of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People
- Work closely with the Director of Performance Marketing and Communications to develop a new Data Strategy which will underpin the implementation of a Customer Data Platform
- Work closely with teams across the organisation tasked with developing and implementing change in how we deliver our services, in particular the Head of Service Design and Development
- Build partnerships with external stakeholders (e.g. corporate partners, service users, suppliers) to support successful delivery and skill transfer
- Engage with the Head of Commercial in sourcing potential pro bono advice and support
- Build robust business cases for each stage of the digital transformation, including measures of success relating to improved digital maturity and organisational effectiveness
- Support the Board-led Digital Transformation Programme Board, ensuring they have timely and sufficient information to enable them to carry out their responsibilities
- Ensure each stage of the programme has clear project plans, decision-points, appropriate resource allocation and active management of risks and opportunities
- Deliver the programme to time and budget
- Identify and champion new digital technologies, processes and solutions that might contribute to the achievement of the digital transformation goals, ensuring solutions have longevity and are sustainable and affordable into the future
- Develop a scorecard for digital maturity which can be tracked over a number of years, helping to demonstrate the outcome of our investment in digital and data solutions
- Support the IT team to develop and implement good practices in design, development, testing and documentation of all solutions and databases deployed across the organisation
- Ensure compliance with Hearing Dogs policies for Data Protection and other IT related policies

Role: Maintenance Technician

We are looking for someone to provide a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, and volunteers by responding to, and delivering a range of maintenance tasks.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure the Grange Estate buildings and grounds are maintained to a high standard of repair providing a safe and professional environment that is always presented at its best internally/externally on a day-to-day basis. Assessing maintenance needs to ‘make-safe’ and complete the works quickly and effectively.
Undertake repairs and maintenance to the buildings to a consistently high standard. Tasks will include joinery, plumbing, glazing, electrical repairs/ renovations, decorating, light renovations, Site equipment maintained (i.e. washing machines/tumble dryers), etc. Risk Assessing with an agile approach with strict adherence to legal H&S standards at all times.
Utilise the Maintenance Management System prioritising the maintenance work and keeping accurate records of all works completed and ensuring excellent communication with colleagues and peers.
Undertake and accurately record the scheduled compliance checks: weekly, monthly, and quarterly relating to fire safety, legionella, Site building PPM’s & Maintenance Equipment safety checks.
Act as a site H&S representative at all times demonstrating vigilance and awareness of responsibilities relating to legal compliance. Always acting with professionalism.
Attend to the security of site – locking/unlocking the site working closely with others to ensure site securty.
Support the Estates team in planning and delivering minor works and project programmes.
Provide Facilities Support: setup/clear down rooms and the grounds for conferences, meetings, tours, and events; safley and effectively support colleagues across the site with office furniture moves and the distribution of deliveries.

Community Fundraising & Events Admin Assistant
Reporting to:National Community Events Manager

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:The role provides administration for Community Fundraising and events and offers the best possible service to supporters raising funds and assists the Community Fundraising Team nationwide.
KEY TASKS OF THE ROLE:- Ensure that all enquiries regarding Community Fundraising and Events are handled in a timely, sensitive, and professional manner at all times, delegating further actions where required to the appropriate member of staff.
- Work with the Finance Team to ensure any donations made directly to our bank are correctly allocated.
- Ensure that all donations are acknowledged promptly and appropriately, working with the Communications team to ensure consistent messaging in our responses.
- Monitor and manage emails coming into Community Fundraising and Events inboxes.
- Ensure literature requests are dealt with in a timely manner with the support of an admin volunteer.
- Admin for National Fundraising Events such as London Marathon and Christmas market
- Support role for Community Fundraising initiatives such as Paws Appeal
- Maintain an accurate filing system to enable Hearing Dogs accounts to be audited correctly and donor queries to be answered.
- Assist with the accurate maintenance of the Community Fundraising & Events section of the charity's CRM system.
- Coordination of various fundraising initiatives, managing the production and distribution of fundraising collateral and materials and aiding the delivery of Community Fundraising activity for example Paws Appeal. This includes the management of volunteers to dispense literature and other relevant resource.

Job Title: Puppy Support Trainer
Location: Centre Based (The Grange, Saunderton or Beatrice Wright Centre, York)

The Puppy Support Trainer role contains aspects of the early dog training framework from eight-weeks whilst the puppy is based at the centre, until placed with a next stage volunteer and Dog Training Instructor.
Key Objectives:
- Responsibility for the day to day running centre-based daycare activities, ensuring high quality routines, care and appropriate early learning and dog behaviour development. Focus is on early life skills of relaxed interactions and good rest patterns.
- Ensure the dog’s social, emotional, and environmental development is optimised for the puppy’s age, so that as the dog moves to a volunteer training home, they can continue to develop and achieve a standard high enough to be placed in a working role.
- Where an allocated puppy/young dog has a support volunteer ensure they receive the right level of support and advice for their personal situation.
- Care for the health and development for a group of up puppies. Follow our feeding, sleeping and early training plans to help our dog’s development
- Maintain records of the pups in your care. This will include sleeping patterns, feeding routines, toileting routines, and training exercises.
- Full hand over to teammates.
- Delivering basic hands-on puppy training with specific dogs developing their social behaviour and handling to the required level as appropriate to their age.
- Where relevant, providing support to volunteers on a one-to-one basis to all aspects of physical & social puppy development from allocated Hearing Dogs centre.
- Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of puppy areas, toys and equipment and the wider working environment.
- Ensure appropriate Health and safety and infection control to meet the needs of young puppies.
- Communicate any urgent requirements to the Hearing Dogs Staff team and ensure thorough handovers at the end and beginning of shifts to maintain consistency of care.
