Job Title: Press & Marketing Officer
Band: 3 (£26,972.40 per annum)

Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Devising & Delivering Press Campaigns
- Devising and delivering press campaigns for Northcott productions and projects, including but not limited to writing press releases and organising press nights.
- Working with visiting companies and supported artists to devise and deliver press campaigns for visiting productions.
- Pitching and facilitating interviews, features and other media content.
- Building and maintaining relationships with journalists, reviewers, influencers and editors.
- Tracking, evaluating and reporting on press campaigns.
- Creating & Showcasing Stories
- Creating, sharing and showcasing Northcott Stories and news articles through our social media and website.
- Gathering and editing content from visiting companies, artists and partners.
- Writing original content.
- Working with others (inhouse or freelance) to create original photography and video content.
- Supporting the creation of show programmes, sourcing content, editing and proofreading.
- Delivering Marketing Campaigns
- Working with the Senior Marketing Officer to devise and implement the social media strategy.
- Creating engaging email marketing campaigns, using targeted customer lists.
- Updating the theatre’s website (working in WordPress).
- Producing and monitoring social media adverts.
- Buying print and out-of-home advertising, as directed by the Senior Marketing Officer or the Head of Marketing & Press.

- At least 18 months’ experience in a professional role
- Experience with press; PR, journalist, editor
- Experience of using databases and software such as Spektrix, WordPress, Canva (training will be provided on all our systems)
- Experience of copywriting, proofreading and editing
- A creative thinker and a storyteller
- Great with people, networking and building relationships
- Excellent organisational & administrative skills
- Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
- Proven ability to work as part of a team
- Self-motivated, pro-active in learning and development
Desirable

Who we’re looking for
We are seeking a talented and creative marketing professional to join our team covering the maternity leave of one of our team members. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong professional experience of working on arts marketing campaigns. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a busy producing and receiving arts venue, or will have other relevant arts marketing experience. While advanced graphic design skills are desired for this role, we encourage candidates with less experience in this area to apply, if your knowledge and experience of arts marketing is suitably extensive.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Devising & Delivering Marketing Campaigns
- Liaising with visiting companies bringing commercially focused work to agree and implement marketing campaigns.
- Devising and implementing marketing campaigns for a number of other visiting productions each season, in liaison with the visiting companies and within the budgets set by the Head of Marketing & Press.
- Leading on the organisation’s social media strategy
- Leading on devising, delivering and monitoring social media advertising campaigns, keeping up to date on best practice and new features.
- Creating engaging email marketing campaigns, using targeted customer lists.
- Buying print and out-of-home advertising.
- Updating the theatre’s website (working in WordPress).
- Tracking, evaluating and reporting on marketing activity and campaigns.
Graphic Design
- Designing print and advertising materials based on existing assets.
- Creating new visuals for Northcott projects and productions based on brief.
- Liaising with external designers on the creation of original artwork and other design assets, e.g. show programmes.
- With the Head of Marketing & Press, maintaining and developing the Northcott’s visual identity.
General
- Maintaining a working knowledge of the theatre’s programme.
- Sharing skills, expertise and providing mentorship and guidance to other members of the department.
- Contributing to the realisation of the organisation’s strategic goals.
- Attending staff meetings/training as required.
- Representing the theatre at external meetings as required.
- Deputising for the Head of Marketing & Press as required.
- Adhering to Exeter Northcott Theatre values, policies and procedures.
- Maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of relevant GDPR legislation.
- Any other duties which may be reasonably requested by Marketing & Press.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Two years relevant campaign marketing experience
- Experience using InDesign and Photoshop in a professional setting
- Proven ability to produce high-quality printed and digital materials, based on existing assets and within brand guidelines
- Knowledge of social media strategy and best practice, and ability to manage multiple platforms
- Experience of email marketing (we use Dotdigital)
- Experience of paid social media, including Meta ads manager
- Excellent copywriting and proof-reading skills
- Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team
Desirable:
- Ability to conceptualise and create marketing assets based on brief
- Experience of ticketing systems in a marketing context (we use Spektrix)
- Experience working with websites (we use WordPress)
- Experience managing or supervising more junior team members on specific projects or tasks, e.g. social media posting
- Knowledge of arts and culture within Exeter and the South West
