Salary: £12.75 per hour (£25,857 per annum FTE)
Contract: Part-time permanent contract
Working Hours: Flexible with an average of 20 hours per week. Evening and weekend work required
Holiday: 32 days (inc. statutory holidays) per annum per rata

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Operational
- Always delivering and modelling excellent customer service.
- Overseeing bar and café operations during the daytime and for evening performances, ensuring smooth customer flow and efficient service.
- Leading the casual Front of House team to deliver the highest standard of service during performances, including managing drink and food sales and taking the lead in taking and preparing pre-show service/interval orders.
- Being aware of Exeter Northcott activities and answering customer enquiries.
- Contributing to good team morale, encouraging and motivating all Front of House staff to perform at their best.
- Supporting the Food & Beverage Manager to identify training and development needs, and areas for improvement.
- Adhering to the theatre’s Health & Safety policy and reporting any relevant issues. Delivering detailed and effective handovers between shifts, including stock levels, sales performance, and any operational issues or till anomalies, to maintain continuity and efficiency. Ensuring operational information is being filtered to relevant departments and management.
- Maintaining the daily orders list and working with the duty management team to ensure an effective ordering process.
- Supporting delivery of income targets as agreed with the F&B Manager by implementing strategies to increase sales, such as upselling, promotions, and customer engagement initiatives.
- Making sure all Front of House equipment is serviced, maintained and clean, doing weekly or monthly checks and reporting any defects.
- Alongside the theatre management team, controlling the finances of Front of House sales as required, including managing cash floats, cashing up and adhering to Exeter Northcott financial policies/procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant licensing laws.
General
- Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the theatre’s values and business objectives.
- Thinking creatively and strategically about how the Front of House activity contributes to ENT goals and being alert to relevant opportunities.
- Taking an active role in promoting the theatre’s values and meeting its business objectives
- Taking an active role in identifying and removing access barriers for anyone with access needs.
- Attending staff meetings/training as required.
- Adhering to all Exeter Northcott Theatre policies & procedures.
- Maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Any other duties which may be reasonably requested by the Front of House department.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Experience of working in a customer facing hospitality role
- Barista experience
- An articulate communicator, with good literacy and numeracy skills
- Ability and confidence in managing a diverse team, treating differing views with discretion and diplomacy
- Proactive and flexible attitude, particularly in the approach to working hours and duties
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Experience of cashing up / dealing with the reconciliation of monies
- Ability to work calmly under pressure, make decision in the moment, and problem solve
- A confident approach with a ‘can do’ attitude
- Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene
- Flexible, adaptable, and positive
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Desirable:
- An interest in the arts and/or experience of working in a theatre
- Level 3 Food Safety and Hygiene
- First Aid qualification (training can be provided)
- Knowledge of licensing.
