The Bishop of Newcastle wishes to appoint a full-time priest to be Team Rector to the Benefice of Cramlington Team Ministry.
Cramlington is a key commercial and residential centre in Northumberland and this is a parish with a large, diverse population and a vibrant community life. A new Team Rector is sought who can bring energy and vision to create a new profile for the church in a town. We are looking to increase the welcome and presence of the church, particularly since the challenges of Covid. St Nicholas is a well-known parish church building in the town and worship is in the contemporary style in the evangelical tradition.
Key to this role is working to identify the mission priorities of the parish. This includes enabling the current congregations to continue to deepen their faith, engage with the community and grow their participation in mission and ministry. Another main part of this role is continuing close links with the Hope Centre as a key place of outreach through the foodbank and other social projects, as well as strengthening schools’ work. There is also an opportunity through this role to explore the possibilities of new worshipping communities in the town. St Thomas, Newcastle Church is designated as a resource for supporting the establishment of new worshipping communities and is available to support and lead on initiatives with the Team Rector and PCC.
Might God be calling you, as a priest with a passion to see people grow in faith and confidence, an enthusiasm for building relationships across communities, and a vision for the sharing of the Gospel, to help us to turn outward in mission and to be truly “Good News” for Cramlington.

Excited by the idea of being church in a different way? Looking to serve the mission of God in a distinctive location? Want to be at the heart of a unique partnership with a brand new £4m Youth and Community hub and revamped church building? Are you called to serve St Michael’s Parish in the middle of the iconic Byker Estate in Newcastle upon Tyne?
The Bishop of Newcastle is seeking to appoint a full-time Community Mission Priest (initial funding for five years) who will be priest in charge to the Benefice of Byker St Michael’s. This is an opportunity for an energetic, strategic and creative priest to enable the church in this vibrant North East community to grow even younger and more outward in mission, to recognise and celebrate where God is already at work, and to work with the Spirit in order to grow faith and build community in new ways.
This new full-time post has been created in order to resource a parish in mission at a critical moment in its history. As the new Government funded Youth and Community hub opens, and gets established, there is a unique opportunity for the church to partner in this development, building on the innovative mission and ministry in Byker over the last twenty years. There is a brand-new Youth space and the church building has been completely re-developed with sustainability and flexibility at the heart of a beautiful new design.
Collaborative working with clergy and lay leaders across the five Byker and Walker parishes has been the norm for many years as part of MINE: Mission Initiative Newcastle East, and along with the Lighthouse project and initiatives such as MINE Youth and the partnership with Eden in Byker. This post will be supported more widely by the diocesan Mission and Ministry Team and the Organising for Growth programme from The Centre for Theology and Community.

The Bishop of Newcastle wishes to appoint a Full time Priest to be Rector of the Parish of Upper Coquetdale
Might God be calling you to serve in this spectacular part of God’s creation? Containing large designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Sites of Special Scientific Interest and Northumberland National Park, this parish is simply stunning, whilst also being well-connected by roads to the city of Newcastle and the historic market towns of Morpeth and Alnwick. The six churches each have their unique identity including some ancient heritage. The village of Rothbury is the largest village in the parish and offers plentiful amenities.
