The Bishop of Newcastle wishes to appoint a full-time priest to be Vicar of Walker Christ Church
Walker is a single urban parish, on the River Tyne to the east of Newcastle city centre. This compassionate congregation is embedded in their community, committed to living out their faith and to sharing the Gospel. As part of the Mission Initiative Newcastle East Bishop’s Mission Order you will also work with and be supported by stipendiary and lay colleagues across six parishes in Walker, Byker and Walkergate with over twenty-five years’ experience of working together across the area.
We are seeking a full-time stipendiary priest who:
- Has a passion for mission in areas of regeneration and diverse communities, able to build on community partnerships and initiatives
- Will teach and preach the Christian faith and help us to share that faith and serve God with joy and courage
- Is a good communicator able to inspire and lead us both pastorally and spiritually and in worship
- Is friendly, approachable and committed to responding to the needs and culture of the local community
- Is able to develop ways of bringing in new members into the congregation and to develop links with young people and families in the area
- Is able to take forward ideas and initiatives, especially in working with the local schools, the MINE Group of Churches and the wider Deanery.
