Job description

Job Purpose
To contribute to the delivery of an excellent student experience by undertaking a range of teaching, assessment, and administrative duties, principally at postgraduate level. This role aims to optimise alignment of teaching practice to the University’s Learning and Teaching Strategy, particularly in relation to inclusive practice and student voice. Duties will be determined and requested by the line manager, in order to contribute to learning and teaching objectives in the School of Health and Wellbeing.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Contribute to the planning, organisation, and delivery of teaching.
2. Deliver a range of teaching and assessment activities directed towards effective online and in person delivery.
3. Participate in a range of course administration duties, within required timescales, including effective communication of information, marking, assessment and timeous constructive feedback.
4. Assist with the development of appropriate teaching materials ensuring content and methods of delivery meet determined learning objectives.
5. Contribute to the effective use of learning technologies to support and enhance course delivery, course organisation, feedback, and assessment.
6. Apply specialist knowledge to teaching that best meet the needs of individuals and groups of learners, ensuring an inclusive and evidence-based approach that promotes student participation and learning outcome attainment.
7. Assist with the supervision of student projects, dissertations, and any practical work, advising on skills, methods, and techniques to assist the transfer of knowledge, and respond appropriately to the diverse range of learner support/ needs.
8. Engage in continuing professional development activities as appropriate.
9. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of School.
10. To contribute to the enhancement of the University’s international profile in line with the University’s Strategic Plan, Inspiring People Changing The World.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential:
A1 SCQF Level 11 [Masters degree] in a relevant subject or a cognate discipline, or equivalent.
A2 Specialist theoretical and practical knowledge of online, flipped classroom, and workshopping teaching environments.
Skills
Essential:
C1 Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
C2 Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
C3 Ability to accept collegiate responsibilities and act accordingly.
Experience
Essential
E1 Experience and strong understanding of the pedagogical processes involved to support the creation of learning resources for Masters Programmes within SHW.
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 6, £33,951 - £37,694 per annum pro rata.
This post is offered on a part-time (no fixed working pattern) for 2 hours per week and fixed term for 6 months.
