Temporary Female Children & Youngs Persons Violence Advocate (internally known as CYPVA)

Location: Swindon, Wiltshire

Salary: £29,059.80 (£31,416pa FTE)

Temporary (up to 12 months maternity cover), Part Time

The first suitable applicant will be appointed.

The role:

The overall purpose of this role is to engage children and young people (CYP) at risk of harm due to domestic abuse, to carry out appropriate assessments, including DASH RIC and referral to MARAC and/or safeguarding when indicated. The skilled and experienced post holder will design, with CYP, one to one sessions as required, in community or accommodation-based settings and work with other SPIDAS teams to provide a holistic and joined up response. Additionally, this role will engage with others in the community and in education provision, in order to raise awareness and develop and deliver education programmes. You will work with other agencies to develop safety plans, and develop and offer specific face to face interventions for those experiencing intimate teen violence, including young instigators and survivors.

Essential requirements

  • NNEB, Diploma/Degree or NVQ 5 in working with children and young people or* equivalent work level experience
  • Recognised national qualification in working with children affected by domestic violence and abuse

  • Experience of safeguarding best practice for children

  • In depth understanding of the issues affecting children who have experienced domestic violence and abuse
