We are seeking to employ a research technician (0.8FTE) within the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition providing support to the ongoing research.You should have a minimum of ONC – NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a Biological Science.
Job Description
The successful candidates will be expected to work on rotation throughout the laboratories of the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition and as such will become involved in a wide variety of research.
You should have practical experience of working in a research laboratory. Knowledge and experience of standard Cell Culture and Molecular Biology techniques are essential, and a knowledge of Western Blots and PCR and microbiology would also be preferred. Experience in blood and tissue handling, and processing would be an advantage but not essential as training will be given. You should have excellent communication skills (both written and oral), be highly motivated and able to work within a team.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 3 scale, 80% of £26,565 - £27,920 per annum, and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
