We have the exciting opportunity for a Team Lead to come and join our Community Mental Health Support Service in the North East!

This is a full time, Permanent role.

This is a remote role, however requires someone who is based in the North East. 

This role is not eligible for sponsorship as is does not meet the requirements as set out by the UK Visa and Immigration Service

About the job:

Our Community Mental Health Support Service provides practical and emotional support to people in Newcastle who are experiencing mental illness on behalf of the NHS. We help people to access key community resources in the city, to get the support they need.

As a Team Lead, you will support the Team Manger in organising and developing service provision, staffing, resources, support networks and public relations within and relating to the service

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of up to 10 staff (Community Mental Health Support Workers and a Senior Community Mental Health Support Worker) to deliver 1-2-1 and group mental health support services in line with commissioned contracts and relevant quality standards, to meet SLAs and KPIs.
  • Build, develop, and maintain relationships with statutory and voluntary services, both mainstream and specialist, as a means of promoting work, education, and leisure opportunities for people with complex mental health issues or severe mental illness (SMI) to support and develop the service.
  • Coordinate with the Team Manager to ensure good support and non-clinical supervision systems are in place and adhered to, to meet the needs of the service. • Maintain pathways between statutory and VCSE services to support the client journey.
  • Perform internal audits of case management to support with contractual and statutory compliance.
  • Deputise for the Team Manager when required.
  • Undertake any reasonable duties/responsibilities to meet the needs of the organisation.

About you 

We would love to hear from you if you posses the following:

  • Significant experience working in a health and social care setting.
  • Significant experience of working with people that have either SMI or a complex health condition.
  • Significant experience of working to set targets/KPI’s for commissioned or statutory services.
  • Significant experience of working 1:1 with service users and/or people with complex needs.
  • Significant experience of working within health, social care, or VCS systems.
  • Understanding of challenges and barriers on accessing services.
  • Understanding of recovery in the context of mental health.
  • Understanding of issues surrounding loneliness and isolation, financial inclusion, homelessness, or substance misuse.
  • Understanding of the effects of stigma and discrimination.
  • Understanding of mental health issues and users’ needs.
  • Understanding of the behaviours of people expressing difficult emotions, anxiety, and anger management.
  • Understanding of the health and social care landscape.
  • Understanding of Pathways
  • Understanding of confidentiality and ‘General Data Protection Regulations’
