Job Description

Some jobs are about ticking tasks off a list.- This isn’t one of them.

At MacIntyre, we support people to live the kind of life that matters to them — one filled with choice, independence, connection, and the freedom to enjoy the things they love most.

Right now, we’re looking for caring, reliable Relief Support Workers to join our team in Wrexham.

You don’t need experience in support work to apply. If you’re someone who treats people with kindness, listens well, enjoys helping others, and can bring patience, encouragement, and a sense of humour to someone’s day — we’d love to hear from you.

About the role

As a Relief Support Worker, you’ll support people in ways that are meaningful to them. That could mean helping someone get ready in the morning, supporting them to attend work, going out for coffee, exploring local places of interest, enjoying hobbies together, or simply being there for a chat and some company.

Every person is different, so every day will look a little different too.

Some people may need support with:

  • Daily routines, like going to the bathroom and getting ready for the day ahead
  • Medication
  • Shopping and cooking
  • Attending appointments
  • Building confidence and independence
  • Accessing their local parks and going to do favourite hobbies

Above all, your role is about supporting people to live life on their terms.

Meet Louise and Mark*

Louise lives in her own flat within a shared house and enjoys keeping busy. She loves history, swimming, visiting new places, and taking pride in her home. Louise also works on Fridays and enjoys having someone alongside her who is encouraging, positive, and happy to celebrate her achievements.

Mark enjoys the quieter things in life — gardening, crafts, a good coffee, and watching the world go by from a sunny spot. He has a brilliant sense of humour, enjoys browsing YouTube, and values support from someone calm, patient, and easy-going.

Both Louise and Mark use mobility cars, so a full UK manual driving licence is essential for this role.

Why join us?

We know great support starts with great people, so we make sure you feel supported too.

We offer:

  • Flexible relief hours that fit around your lifestyle
  • Full training and ongoing support
  • A welcoming and values-driven team
  • Opportunities to learn and develop
  • Meaningful work where you can genuinely make a difference

This is a role where the small moments matter — sharing a laugh, building confidence, supporting independence, and helping someone feel valued, connected, and heard.

If that sounds like the kind of work you’d be proud to do, we’d love to hear from you.

Please note, we are currently unable to offer sponsorships as we await further guidance from the Home Office. Applications requiring sponsorship cannot be considered at this time. We appreciate your understanding.
