Support Worker - Easingwold

Easingwold
Full-time
18th June 2026
Listed today

We are looking for a Support Worker to join our service based in Easingwold on a permanent, full‑time basis (37.5 hours per week). Shifts will be worked across mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

We are looking to grow our team of dedicated, caring and enthusiastic Support Workers to enable the individuals we support to live the lives they choose.

If you enjoy supporting someone who loves being active, you may be well suited to our 1:1 support service, where you’ll be supporting a young man who enjoys a different activity each week. Whether it’s football, swimming or making the most of his National Trust tickets, this gentleman has endless energy and a real passion for fun — the Support Worker we’re looking for will need to match that enthusiasm (or better yet, top it!).

If you’re looking for the opportunity to support individuals to develop the life skills they need to live independently, we also have a service that could be a great fit. Supporting our lovely ladies in their home, you’ll be alongside them as they go about their day — lending a helping hand in the kitchen, supporting someone out for a coffee, and most importantly, making sure the milk is picked up on the way home. This service is ideal for someone who enjoys seeing how small moments can make a big difference to someone’s independence.

Some of the people we support only require verbal prompts for personal care, while others may need more hands‑on support. Full training and shadowing will be provided for each service.

As a Support Worker with Mencap, we understand that flexibility is important — for both you and the service. While we do require flexibility across the day depending on the service you’re matched with, we also understand that you have a life outside of work. We do our very best to plan rotas that allow you to manage personal commitments, whether that’s a dentist appointment or something else that comes up.

As each service is different, shift patterns will vary. As a general guide, some day shifts may start from 7:00am or 9:00am and finish between 9:00pm and 10:00pm, often split into two shifts. Certain services may also include sleep‑in or waking night shifts.

You will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £64.20 for any sleep‑in shifts worked. Please note that sleep‑in payments are non‑contractual.

What does a Support Worker do?

As a Support Worker, you will provide high‑quality, person‑centred support to help ensure the people we support live comfortable, dignified, independent and fulfilling lives. You will be a good communicator, naturally caring and patient.

Typical responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting people to live independently, including budgeting, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and preparing healthy meals
  • Building positive relationships and supporting individuals to understand the world around them
  • Supporting people to access their local community and take part in social activities
  • Providing personal care where required, including prompting medication and supporting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom
(Not all Support Worker roles involve high levels of personal care)

 Visa sponsorship

Mencap holds a Home Office sponsorship licence; however, due to current restrictions on our allocation of Certificates of Sponsorship, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role. Applicants must therefore have the right to work in the UK without the need for sponsorship.

*All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.
