Working Pattern:

Up to 4 shifts per week, 2 waking nights and 2 sleeping nights, waking night shifts take place from 9.00pm – 6.00am and sleeping shifts 6.00pm – 6.00am. They are also looking for candidates to cover additional ad-hoc hours as a part time role.

Rate of Pay:

£20.00 per hour weekdays
£22.00 per hour weekends
£150.00 per night (sleeping)
£200.00 per night (waking)

Job Profile

Mosaic 1898 Direct Payment Support Service is assisting a family to recruit a Support Worker
They are looking for a support worker to assist a 16-year-old male with multi-complex needs in the Langham area of Oakham, Rutland. In return, they offer a highly competitive hourly rate and ongoing training.
The required support worker will need to display a high level of initiative, be able to work as part of a team and follow a structured routine. You will be responsible for providing quality support to improve the life of the service user and his family. Specific training will be provided.
It is desirable that applicants have experience or be willing to undertake training, where necessary, in the following:
• Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG)
• Epilepsy
• Mechanical Ventilation
• Suction
• Chest/respiratory therapy
• NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
• Working with young people with complex medical needs
• Sound understanding of good care principles and excellent communication skills.
It is essential for candidates to hold a full driving license.
They are currently looking to cover 4 shifts per week, 2 waking nights and 2 sleeping nights, waking night shifts take place from 9.00pm-6.00am and sleeping shifts 6.00pm-6.00am. They are also looking for candidates to cover additional ad-hoc hours as a part time role.
Applicants must be flexible during holidays to meet the client’s needs. A rota will be agreed one month in advance. Additional hours may be available to cover annual leave or sickness.

This role does not currently support sponsorship applications as the post does not meet the current Home Office criteria.

To provide assistance at the right time, enabling the individual to lead an independent lifestyle in their own home and within the community. You should understand your role to assist with the self-defined needs of the individual, and feel confident to ask what these needs are, and listen to requests and follow directions given.
The PA should:
• Be flexible to meet the individual needs
• meet the job’s physical requirements (e.g. moving & handling)
• Arrive at the required times ready to work.
• Contact immediately if going to be more than 15 minutes late.
• Establish close working relationship on one to one basis.
• If problems arise, discuss & resolve immediately.
• Maintain confidentiality, respect privacy of individual and family.
• Have a current driving licence.
The PA’s Attitude:
• Appreciate stresses & strains of disabled individual, and the effect this can have on the acceptance of help.
• Understand that the preservation of dignity & independence is important.
• Respect the possessions & equipment in the employer’s home.
• Use of the telephone, television, radio etc should only be with employer’s prior consent.
• Any questions regarding tasks should be clarified before starting.
• Duties/hours of work required may vary according to requirements.
Learning the Job:
Daily tasks will be learnt and familiarised through working together with individual and employer. You must be willing to undertake training, where necessary.
