The Role

As one of the UK's best employers, we believe in putting people at the heart of everything we do Bridge College are looking for a passionate and proactive Sports and Community Officer to expand inclusive sporting opportunities across the college. This is a dynamic role where you will work collaboratively with curriculum teams and multidisciplinary professionals to design, deliver, and grow a diverse sports and physical activity programme.

You will act as the key link between Bridge College and local sports facilities and organisations, ensuring our students can access high-quality, inclusive opportunities both on and off campus.

We are looking for a compassionate, proactive, and organised individual with a passion for empowering others.

The role will be split into the following areas:

  • MATP Session Lead & Bridge Society Group sports Session Lead.
  • Skills Pathway Sport Session Lead
  • Sports Events, Lunch Clubs and Tournament Lead

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the main point of contact between Bridge College and local sports and leisure facilities
  • Plan, coordinate and deliver inclusive sports initiatives and activities
  • Work collaboratively with tutors, therapists, and support staff to deliver outstanding sporting experiences
  • Develop sustainable sports clubs and organise fixtures, competitions, and events
  • Support and attend extracurricular and whole-college events
  • Promote pathways for students into roles such as coaching, officiating, and volunteering
  • Support healthy lifestyle initiatives alongside the therapy team
  • Ensure all activities are accessible through appropriate adaptations and equipment
  • Maintain and manage sports equipment and resources
  • Develop links with further and higher education providers
  • Expand sport-related work experience and volunteering opportunities
  • Promote equality, diversity, safeguarding, and health & safety in all activities
  • Monitor, report on, and evaluate student progress and programme outcomes

Essential Criteria

  • Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Sport, Coaching, Fitness, or Activity Leadership
  • Experience delivering sports coaching in a variety of settings
  • Experience working with young people with learning disabilities and/or additional needs
  • Experience working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong organisational and project coordination skills
  • Knowledge of inclusive sports practices and activity adaptation
  • Excellent communication, literacy, and numeracy skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and continuous professional development

Due to the nature of the role, which includes off-site learning, driving is a desirable requirement for some aspects of the positions.
