Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to support children with speech, language and communication needs within a school environment. You will work closely with teaching staff, therapists, parents, and external agencies to deliver targeted support and help children reach their full potential.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about child development and communication support.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) in planning and delivering therapy sessions for individuals and groups.
- Support students in classrooms and therapy settings, under guidance from SLTs.
- Maintain accurate records of interventions using WriteUpp and manual systems.
- Assist with therapy resources, displays, and equipment.
- Contribute to assessments and pupil progress discussions.
- Participate in developing communication-friendly environments and whole school initiatives.
- Deliver dysphagia support under supervision and contribute to safeguarding and multi-agency collaboration
What we are looking for
- GCSE (or equivalent) Grade 5 or above in English and Maths
- Good standard of written and spoken English
- Experience working with children or young people in a school setting (paid or voluntary)
- Experience supporting children with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) or related difficulties
- Experience following individualised intervention programmes
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team (e.g. teachers, therapists, SEN staff)
- Flexible, reflective, and able to follow instructions with attention to detail.
