Sound No. 3 - My Neighbour Totoro (1783)
Royal Shakespeare Company is looking to appoint a Sound No.3 for its production of My Neighbour Totoro at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, in Collaboration with NIPPON TV and IMPROBABLE.
This position is offered initially as a fixed term contract commencing on 6 July 2026.
The Sound No. 3 supports the Sound No. 1, 2, and 4 in maintaining the sound and communications systems on the production to the highest possible standard. They play an active role in the running of each performance, responding promptly to sound and communications issues as they arise, while also providing mix cover when required and supporting publicity, access and other production-related events as needed.
To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have the following skills and experience:
- Experience of radio mic running, show running, and mixing of a production with a large cast and live band.
- Previous experience managing, supporting and fault-finding communications systems for multiple technical departments.
- A practical understanding of theatre sound systems, rigging principles and safe working practices.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage time actively and work within agreed schedules.
- A calm, collaborative and proactive approach to problem-solving.
- A good understanding of Health and Safety responsibilities within a busy theatre environment.
- The ability to work professionally and cooperatively with creative teams, technical departments, venue staff, and production management.
Application Process
My Neighbour Totoro performs 8 shows a week, on a Tuesday to Sunday schedule, with matinees on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, London.
The closing date for applications is midnight on 1 June 2026, and you must be available to interview on week commencing 1 June 2026.
