Sound No. 1 / PSE - Fixed Term Contract (1754)
Do you have broad experience and understanding of sound and communications in a theatre environment? Can you use DiGiCo SD, d&b Soundscape, OSC and related software? Are you available to work from the end of June to early September?
We are looking for an experience Sound No. 1 / PSE to play an active, key, role in delivering world class theatre by supporting Sound Designers and Composers throughout the production process.
You will ensure that sound elements are delivered, safely, repetitively with programming and plotting in line with RSC procedures.
Reporting to the Head of Sound, key areas of responsibility include (please see the Role Profile for a comprehensive list):
- Supporting visiting Sound Designers to realise their creative vision
- Programming and operating DiGiCo sound desksand associated systems
- Managing day‑to‑day sound requirements across assigned venues
- Contributing to show and event pre‑planning, including touring productions
- Providing stage sound support, using Riedel and Motorola comms systems
- Ensuring all work meets Health & Safetystandards and RSC procedures
To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have the following knowledge and experience:
- Broad knowledge of theatre sound, communications, and related disciplines
- Confidence using DiGiCo SD software, with experience ofd&b Soundscape and OSC
- Strong organisational, communication, and problem‑solving skills
- Experience of leading or supervising teams effectively
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- A genuine interest in Shakespeare and the RSC's artistic work
This is a full time, fixed term contract from 22 June to 6 September 2026, based in Stratford-upon-Avon. You will be working an average of 44 hours per week, 6 out of 7days.
