The Vacancy
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to provide commercial leadership across a diverse portfolio of investment delivery projects and programmes. This is a pivotal role, working at the heart of our delivery teams to ensure projects are delivered with strong financial control, robust governance, and demonstrable value for money.

The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the commercial and cost management aspects of projects from inception through to completion. Working closely with internal project and Planned Delivery Teams, you will ensure confident financial decision-making, effective risk management, and transparent reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
You will act as a trusted commercial adviser, shaping strategy, driving improvements in processes, and strengthening commercial governance across investment delivery activities.
Key responsibilities within the role will include:
- Providing commercial leadership and support across investment delivery projects and programmes
- Leading on cost planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial control
- Monitoring expenditure, identifying variances, and implementing corrective actions
- Overseeing contract administration, ensuring compliance with contractual terms
- Supporting procurement activities, including tender preparation, evaluation, and contract award
- Managing valuations, applications for payment, variations, change controls and final accounts
- Identifying, managing, and mitigating commercial and financial risks
About You
You are a commercially astute professional with strong technical knowledge and the confidence to challenge costs, influence stakeholders, and safeguard value for money. You bring a structured, analytical approach and enjoy working collaboratively within complex delivery environments.
Suitable candidates will hold the following qualifications and experience -
- Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline
- Professional membership of RICS (or working towards – desirable)
- Significant experience in a Quantity Surveying or commercial management role
- Experience across the full project lifecycle within construction, property, or capital investment
- Background in housing, planned maintenance, or capital investment programmes (desirable)
- Strong knowledge of cost planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial control
- Proven experience managing contracts, valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Practical experience of JCT and/or NEC contract forms
- Experience supporting or leading procurement and contractor selection
- Strong understanding of commercial risk management and mitigation
- Experience producing accurate financial reports and cash flow analysis
- Ability to manage contractor and supply chain performance
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and commercial systems
This role is a hybrid role enabling you to base yourself from home. You will be suitably located within our operating region to enable travel and will hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Our operating region includes Hampshire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and London.
