Senior Management Accountant
St Catharine's College is seeking an ambitious and experienced Senior Management Accountant to drive excellence, innovation, and impact across our financial operations.
In this critical role, you’ll be involved in leading the way in delivering a high-quality management accounting service, line-manage and inspire talented Finance team members, and play a key role in modernising and streamlining processes ready for the implementation of our new finance system in 2027.
We’re looking for someone who not only brings strong technical expertise and significant post-qualification experience in management or financial accounting but also has the communication and leadership skills to drive meaningful change.
Main Responsibilities:
Management Accounting
- Work closely with departments and Senior College Officers, creating a real and active partnership. Develop a deep understanding of operations and deliver information in a clear and user-friendly manner.
- Provide financial support and analysis, be a trusted adviser and add value that will assist with decision making.
- Deliver monthly income and expenditure reports with summary narrative, highlighting any areas of concern.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Lead the annual budget and forecast processes ensuring income, cost management and operating cash flow management support the overall strategic framework.
- Meet with key stakeholders on a regular basis to review budget vs. actual variances and recommend appropriate action as required.
Management and development of finance team members

The line management of two members of staff, supervising and supporting their performance and development including 1:1s and appraisals.

Reviewing the team’s transactional and management reporting work, providing feedback and suggesting areas for improvement.

Employment arrangements
This is a permanent appointment (subject to a 3 month probation period).
Competitive salary range of FTE £50,000 - £55,000 depending on skills and experience.
Full time hours of work are 37.5 per week.
