Position Overview:

The Project Field Coordinator (PFC) would be allocated 6-7 blocks and will assist in the planning and execution for all work related to implementing Room to Read’s program at the field level and provides strategic, technical and management support. The coordinator would do the quality implementation, coordination, development and reporting of the FLN initiatives for all the allocated blocks and overall District. The coordinator would assist Program Associate with respect to teacher training and capacity building of government officials. The coordinator will report to the Senior Officer and the position would be based in one of the block in Giridih and will involve frequent travel to allocated blocks for regular interaction with education officials, cluster resource persons, teachers and students.

Responsibilities:

Project Implementation and Coordination:

  • Implement “Strengthening Foundational Literacy Project” (SFLP) in 6-7 allocated blocks and provide required support to block officials and B/CRPs for improving FLN outcomes by prioritizing interventions, to achieve desired learning outcomes of children.

  • Work closely with district and block officials to strengthen the block level review meeting, Gurugosthi, cluster academic meetings, analyse e-Vidyavahini data and share with block and district officials for review and action plan.

  • Coordinate with the block officials for timely delivery of FLN Kit/ Teaching Learning Material to all schools, and support in tracking the progress regularly.

  • Guide the block officials and schools for all the block-level campaigns/ events aligned with SFLP and SPMU goals and ensure timely implementation.

  • Participate in monthly review meetings held in district to support the DCs/ DEOs/ DSEs/ ADPOs in supporting the FL focused agenda of these meetings, reflecting on insights from data collected by the B/CRPs, and prioritizing the project goals at the district level.

Technical (Academic) Support:

  • Develop understanding of Room to Read’s Literacy Program and work happening in Jharkhand and other states.

  • Support the capacity building of block officials in innovative thinking, leadership and effective execution leading to an overall improved administrative capacity in the blocks by facilitating joint field visits, and targeted FL sessions.

  • Conduct capacity building of key stakeholders including Block/ Cluster Resource Persons and teachers on technical (academic) knowledge and skills through trainings organised by state & district, cluster academic meetings on FL and quality education goals, ensuring coherence with the state roadmap.

  • Strengthen district & block mechanisms for quality data reporting through regular mentoring of stakeholders on the use of EVV app, to collate insights and use it for decision making and course correction.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting:

  • Track implementation progress and data collection through e-Vidyavahini for the allocated blocks. Collaborate with RM&E team to analyse the block level data ensuring actionable insights reach all the relevant stakeholders in the block.

  • Collate monthly data and reports as per the template, for all the allocated blocks and share with supervisor, capturing achievements, gaps, and recommendations based on field insights.

  • Collate and document key insights, case studies, and success stories from the field to build a repository of implementation learnings.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education / social sciences or equivalent

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, specifically in the education sector

  • Good knowledge of Hindi and English language.

  • Critical thinking and analytical skills, good interpersonal skills and a team player

  • Proven track record of achieving results

  • Proven ability to work effectively with schools and communities

  • Ability to travel regularly to project sites in remote locations.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience of working in a non-profit organization that is focused on maintaining high quality work and low overhead

  • Prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse government stakeholders

  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously and take initiative

  • Prior experience living and/or working in rural areas

  • Prior experience working with schools, teachers, administrators and government officials

  • Experience in successful implementation of a wide range of tasks as well as developing and implementing improvements in a prior position.
