Looking for a flexible student job that involves helping students? Join our Outreach Team

Could you help students settle to life on campus and make them feel comfortable at BCUSU events? Is being friendly and helpful natural to you? Apply to become a BCUSU Outreach Assistant.

We're looking for enthusiastic and approachable people to engage with students across all BCU campuses, and at BCUSU Reception at Curzon and Seacole.

We are looking to hire at least 1 student from each BCU campus, so would encourage students from all campuses to apply:

  • City Centre Campus (Curzon, Millennium Point, Parkside, Benjamin Zephania)
  • School of Acting (Ruskin Hall)
  • Royal Birmingham Conservatoire
  • School of Art (Margaret St)
  • City South Campus
  • School of Jewellery
  • RBC Digbeth
  • Alexander Stadium

What experience do you need? 

Previous experience in a customer service will be ideal for becoming Outreach Assistant. However, if you can provide examples of having a positive attitude, a willingness to speak with students, and good communication skills, this will be key to the role. The ideal candidate will also be able to comfortably use Microsoft Office platforms, such as Teams, Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Deliver the outreach function to increase engagement for BCUSU

  • To improve student experience by providing a dynamic and friendly approach to all students

  • To promote BCUSU services, activities and events

Pay 

£13.45 per hour.

Hours

This role is a casual zero hours contract, hour are not guaranteed. Shifts hours per week will vary but will amount to no more than 20 hours per week.

BCUSU hosts events throughout the year, and BCUSU Reception is open 9am - 4:30pm every weekday where most shifts will be available. Shifts will be provided based on business need and student availability.

Interviews

Interviews will be conducted from Wednesday 29th July - Wednesday 5th August 2026.

Selection process

Shortlisting will take place from Monday 27th July. As we are expecting a high number of applicants, we will only be able to inform successful candidates. If you haven't heard back from us by Wednesday 29th July, it is likely you're application has been unsuccessful.
