What is a Peer Navigator?
Peer Navigators will help to support first year students transition into life at BCU. They will do this by hosting weekly support sessions to a group of 20 (maximum) first year undergraduate students on their course.
We are recruiting 86 Peer Navigators, who will support over 2,000 first-year students, with sessions taking place over 16 weeks.
There are 9 courses and each will the number of Peer Navigators will vary from 2 to 15 people. We're looking for candidates from the following undergraduate courses:
Who are we looking for?
You don't need any previous experience to become a Peer Navigator, and full training and on-the-job support will be provided by BCUSU and BCU.

Salary
£12.60 per hour
Hours
2 - 3 hours a week, for 16 weeks during term-time. You will also be paid 4 hours for training.

We're looking for a team of Digital Engagement Assistants to create social media content for our channels and help expand our reach to over 30,000 BCU students.
We have 2-4 positions available and applicants must be BCU students. Final year students (graduating Summer 2026) are welcome to apply, if sucessful your employment will end in July 2026.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Using social media trends to creatively promote BCUSU's activities, campaigns and services
- Engaging with students on our social media channels
- Covering our events, activities and campaigns
- Creating and publishing your own content while adhering to our content calendar
Our preferred candidates will have good knowledge of the social media platforms our students use (predominantly TikTok and Instagram), and have some experience in photo and editing software. You will be primarily based in Curzon Building, City Centre Campus, however travel to the other campuses will also be expected, and the ability to complete work remotely.

Hours
Hours will vary depending on availability and tasks available. Your employment will be on a part-time casual basis, and should not exceed 20 hours a week. Hours will typically be worked during our usual working week (Monday – Friday) with the option to work on weekends where applicable.

Selection process
Previous experience working in social media, videography, photography, marketing or the media is helpful but not essential. In your cover letter please provide information about yourself, why we should consider for this role and why you would be a great member of our Marketing & Communications team. If you don’t have any previous experience, tell us about other times you have demonstrated an interest in working in social media or digital marketing.
There is no word limit for covering letters but we expect applications to be detailed as well as concise and succinct.

What experience do you need?
Previous experience in a customer service, or administrative support role, will be ideal as an Outreach Assistant. However, if you can provide examples of having a positive attitude, a willingness to speak with students and good communication skills, it will be key in this role.
