Who we are
The RCSLT is the professional body for speech and language therapists across the UK. The RCSLT has over 24,000 members and employs around 65 staff predominately based in a London office. The RCSLT also has offices in Belfast, Edinburgh, and Cardiff.
Our mission is to improve the lives of people with communication and swallowing needs by facilitating and promoting research, producing guidance, holding events, and influencing government. We aim to promote better education and training for speech and language therapists and provide information to our members and the public about speech and language therapy.
The role
The Membership Officer is responsible for delivering accurate and timely membership administration and high‑quality support across the member lifecycle. The postholder ensures the consistent processing of membership applications, payments, renewals and data quality, working to established standards and procedures. Responsibilities include processing payments, resolving routine and moderately complex membership or payment queries, supporting reconciliation work with Finance and assisting with the operational delivery of the annual renewals cycle.
The role also contributes to continuous improvement by investigating non-routine issues, identifying recurring trends or data anomalies and recommending process or system enhancements. In addition, the position supports reporting and operational planning through the production and analysis of regular and ad-hoc reports, while working collaboratively with Finance, Digital and Member Support teams to ensure smooth operations, effective communication and high standards of member service.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate will have experience in membership or customer administration within a high-volume processing environment, with working knowledge of CRM systems such as Salesforce, Direct Debit processes and online payment systems. They will demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent organisational and communication skills, and the ability to manage a varied workload while meeting deadlines with minimal supervision. Experience handling member enquiries, maintaining accurate data records, resolving routine and moderately complex issues, and identifying data anomalies is essential, alongside an understanding of data-protection requirements and common membership-related queries.
The role requires a proactive, calm and solutions-focused individual who can investigate issues, interpret information and apply appropriate resolutions within established guidelines. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across teams, contribute to continuous service improvement and maintain high professional standards while supporting equality, diversity and the charitable aims and objectives of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.

Our interview process will be in person in our London Bridge Office the week commencing 15 June 2026. There will be a task that will be needed to be completed as part of the interview process.
