MBChB Student Engagement and Support Officer

The Faculty of Health, Medicine and Society is seeking to appoint a Student Engagement and Support Officer within Chester Medical School.

As a member of the Professional Services team, you will provide high-quality administrative support across a range of student engagement, support and student experience activities. Working closely with the Quality Manager, fellow Student Engagement and Support Officers, Academic colleagues and Professional Services teams, you will play a key role in delivering an excellent student experience and supporting continuous improvement across the Faculty.

You will contribute to the administration of key student engagement processes, including induction activities, student enquiries (both in-person and online), attendance monitoring, Personal Academic Tutor (PAT) engagement, and Student Voice activity. The role also involves supporting student surveys, maintaining accurate records of student engagement and welfare, monitoring key data and dashboards, and assisting with the coordination of meetings and events related to student experience and student voice.

You will support the MBChB Admin Hub as a central point of contact for students, signposting to appropriate central services such as Student Services and wellbeing support. The role includes tracking and supporting engagement across a diverse student body, including monitoring ‘at-risk’ indicators and escalating concerns where appropriate. You will also assist with the preparation of reports, analysis of student data, and the delivery of initiatives and projects designed to enhance student engagement and outcomes.

You will work closely with colleagues across the Faculty, as well as central teams such as Student Services, Registry and Academic Services, and external stakeholders including the Students’ Union. You will contribute to ensuring that processes are delivered consistently, policies are adhered to, and opportunities for enhancement are identified and implemented.

We are looking for someone who is educated to A-level standard (or equivalent), with substantial experience in an administrative role, ideally within higher education or a similar large and complex organisation. You should have experience supporting meetings, managing records and databases, and working in a deadline-driven environment with accuracy and attention to detail. Experience of student engagement activities, attendance monitoring, and working with a diverse student population is essential.

You will have excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. A high level of ICT proficiency is required, along with the ability to prioritise competing workloads, and handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism. You should be proactive, adaptable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

We encourage applications from a diverse range of applicants.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Sam Hobbs, Quality Manager (s.hobbs@chester.ac.uk).
