Job Title: EQUINE APPRENTICE

Responsible to: STABLE MANAGER

Main Purpose:

The responsibilities for the Equine Apprentice within the department will be as follows:

• To provide feed, water, bedding and daily health checks;

• To complete records relating to routines and riding policy;

• To monitor stocks of feed, bedding and other consumables as required in consultation with your line manager;

• To ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in all areas and associated storage and service areas;

• To ensure the correct disposal of all waste from the animal areas;

• To manage pony and horse welfare in stable and field;

• To handle ponies and horses for farrier, vet and physio;

• Clean tack, keep equipment in good order;

• Tidy and manage pupils changing areas;

• To assist senior staff with holiday clubs, activities and in-house competitions;

• To exercise, ride and groom horses in all weather;

• To assist the riding coach in the lessons, rides out and stable management;

• To prepare ponies for lessons and stable management sessions;

• To actively commit to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all learners;

• Any other reasonable duties as specified by the line manager.
