Sense has a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our Sense College East team as our Education Pathway Leader. This is a 3 year fixed term role working 37.5 hours per week. The role will be a hybrid position, having an office base at college in Peterborough, and will require regular travelling to all Sense College East college sites.

Sense College East is an independent specialist college for students with complex Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Students are working from pre entry level up to level 1 on a range of core and vocational subjects in line with individuals EHCP outcomes. Sense College East operates from eight sites located at Aldeby (Suffolk), Bedford, Dereham (Norfolk), Hampton (Peterborough), Streatley (Luton), Knapwell (Cambridgeshire), Rothwell (Northants) and Touchbase Pears, Birmingham.

As Education Pathway Leader some key areas of ownership for the successful applicant will include:

  • To develop and monitor the effectiveness of the employment curriculum offer to all students
  • To take lead responsibility in employer engagement to secure a range of employment opportunities
  • To develop the college Work Experience offer and Supported Internship offer both internal and external opportunities.
  • To monitor the quality and outcomes of Work Experience offer and Supported Internship offer
  • To work with tutors to ensure students are working on the appropriate qualifications and skills for the workplace
  • To ensure all students receive quality careers advice and guidance.
  • To ensure the Sense College Career strategy is embedded across the Pathway programmes.
  • To work collaboratively with the SCE Leadership Team and Managers ensuring the values and mission of Sense are met.

Key skills and experience required:

  • A good understanding of the Gatsby Benchmarks
  • Have or willingness to complete an accredited Careers Leader qualification
  • Have a minimum of 2 years working in a SEND education setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of data protection issues.
  • A positive attitude towards students with disabilities and an appreciation of this role’s responsibility in keeping students’ safe
  • An ability to build effective working relationships with internal colleagues and external agencies, so that objectives are met consistently.
  • A driver as working across 8 locations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of DfE Keeping Children Safe in Education, PfA Framework requirements in an educational environment.
  • A commitment to ‘making safeguarding personal’
