Do you have experience working as a Duty Manager within a large-scale arts or visitor attraction setting? Are you motivated by the variety and challenge of delivering an exceptional visitor experience? Can you stay calm under pressure and make confident, effective decisions? Do you take pride in leading, supporting and motivating a team?
We are looking for a confident and experienced Duty Manager to oversee the efficient and safe Front of House operations across all RSC Stratford venues, whilst ensuring that our visitors and audiences are consistently placed at the heart of the organisation by delivering a world-class visitor experience.
This position is a permanent position working variable hours, which includes working predominantly evenings and weekends. Shifts will be of an ad-hoc nature in response to the fluctuating production schedule. Rotas are drafted four weeks in advance.
Reporting to the Visitor Experience Manager, duties and responsibilities will include:
- Working primarily in the evenings and at weekends around performances, leading the Front of House team and welcoming audiences to performances, events and public spaces.
- Overseeing our buildings, ensuring the safety of all staff and visitors.
- Delivering an outstanding visitor experience, maintaining a welcoming, inclusive and professional environment.
- Ensuring the safe and smooth running of all on-site activity. Taking charge in an emergency, being prepared to respond to a wide range of incidents.
- Responding to customer feedback and complaints in a calm, solution-focused manner.
- Take charge, lead and coordinate colleagues and visitors in an emergency situation or major incident.
- Coordinating with internal teams (e.g. Security, Technical, Box Office, Retail and F&B) to ensure seamless operations.
To be suitable for this role, you will have:
- Significant previous duty management experience within a large arts or visitor attraction environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support diverse teams.
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills, particularly under pressure.
- Knowledge of Front of House systems, including safety, fire, security and/or terrorism/emergency procedures.
- Flexibility and availability to cover RSC operating hours, including evenings and weekends.
