Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for Clinical Lectureships tenable in the School of Health and Wellbeing, University of Glasgow. This is a fixed term post (up to completion of CCT). You must already hold a national training number (NTN) in General Practice at the time of applying and will be due to enter General Practice ST2 or ST3 in August 2026 or February 2027.
The successful candidates will be appointed at the level of Specialist/Specialty Registrar and will be in the Scottish Training Programme in General Practice. The posts will be based within General Practice and Primary Care Research Group within the School of Health and Wellbeing at the University of Glasgow, but the successful candidates will also be undertaking clinical training in the West of Scotland. Clinical training is an essential component of the Lectureship in order to ensure the appointees can successfully complete their CCST.
Training will be offered in general practice and primary care and health services research methods or in medical education scholarship. Other specialist training opportunities are available within the School including exposure to public health.
The successful candidates will complete their ST2 year as per current programme arrangements; during this year the trainees will be welcome to take whatever opportunities are available to become involved in the activities of the General Practice and Primary Care Research Group during their 0.2 WTE time dedicated to research development.
The final year of training (ST3) would be split over two years, with you working part time (50%) in clinical training in a suitable practice, and part time (50%) in academic training in the University Research Group. During the term of the post, the successful candidates are expected to achieve the competencies required to achieve their CCST in general practice and to gain research competencies, and undertake publishable research that will make them well placed to commence a higher degree (PhD or MD) by obtaining an externally funded studentship by the end of the term of appointment.
Job Purpose
