Organisation

D6: Culture in Transit is looking for a thoughtful and effective Chair to help shape our next chapter – supporting us to implement our ambitious programme of work and contribute to our future strategic planning.

Based in Newcastle, we are a visual arts producer rooted in North East England with an international reach. Our major programmes are built on collaboration and shared values, bringing people together to advance social justice and environmental awareness.

Over a thirty year history, D6 has worked with exceptional artists and partners locally and internationally to commission and present powerful art, often in public spaces. With a belief in the power of art to build fairer, more open and generous societies, we focus programmes of work on the climate emergency, cultural rights and colonial legacies.

We are looking for someone who shares our vision.

The role will influence future funding, partnerships and advocacy, strengthening our position as a leader in cultural exchange and cross-border collaboration. It requires someone who demonstrates a strong appreciation of local and international collaboration and the value it brings.

This is a pivotal moment to join D6. We are delivering a dynamic programme with our sister organisation, D6:EU, while expanding opportunities to contribute to influential advocacy platforms. We face the current global political climate head on and with a clear mission, knowing that our work is more significant than ever.

We are now looking for a Chair to lead, support and advocate for our work as we enter this next phase.

Equal opportunity

We welcome applicants from people of all backgrounds and lived experiences, in particular those who are currently under-represented within the arts and our staff team. This includes, but is not limited to people who identify as Disabled, d/Deaf, Global Majority, and people with lived experience of migration.
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive Board and to ensuring our recruitment process is accessible to all. We welcome requests for reasonable adjustments at any stage of the application or selection process.
