Job Title:Casual Theatre TechnicianDepartment:Theatre
Hours of Work:Hours are flexible with no guarantee of work. Evening and weekend work will be required,particularly during production weeks, rehearsals, performances and events.

Summary of Role:

We are looking to recruit an experienced casual theatre technician to assist with the technical operations our 630 seater theatre including productions, concerts, school events, external hires, maintenance and various sitespecific events that happen around the school.

Applicants should have previous hands-on experience in theatre, live events or production environments and be confident working during production weeks with minimal supervision. This role is not intended as an entry-level training position. Candidates should already understand the expectations, pace, terminology and working practices of live performance environments.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Provide technical assistance in the Auditorium for productions and events

• Demonstrate awareness of electrical safety, manual handling, working at height and safe theatre working practices

• Assist with and operate with confidence sound/lighting for school events/productions/concerts etc.

Have a good knowledge of operation of a range of AV equipment

• Assist with get ins/outs and participate in setups for events/productions

Assist with streaming and recording events/productions

Previous practical experience working in technicaltheatre, live events, school productions or otherperformance environments.Have a committed interest and up to date ofknowledge in all technical theatre matters(Lighting, Sound, Recording, AV)Ability to operate or assist confidently with at leastone core technical discipline, such as lighting,sound, AV, stage, recording or streaming.Working knowledge of theatre terminology,backstage etiquette, cueing, show calls and liveperformance procedures.Able to carry out routine theatre tasks safely andwith minimal supervision, as instructedFluent and accurate written and spoken English.Proven experience working withinprofessional theatreExperienced in theatre design (Lighting andSound programming/mixing)Knowledge of electrical safety and have aPAT certificateFreelance technician with flexibility to workevenings and weekendsRecognised technical theatre qualification(s)Relevant training or certification in First Aid,manual handling and working at heightPrevious experience of working within a schoolenvironment or with young people within atheatrical setting.
