Heritage is for everybody, and we are here for heritage.

Heritage lives in places and people, memories and stories, artefacts and traditions. It can connect us all to the past, and to each other. It can make us happier, strengthen every community, and help shape society for the better. Everybody should be able to enjoy the benefits it brings.

That's why, as a charity, we care for over a million objects and hundreds of historic sites in every part of England, from international icons to local treasures. And it's why we open them up, share their stories and find new ways for everybody to enjoy, learn, play and create.

We are looking for an Assistant Curator of Collections and Interiors (North) to join our team. You'll be working on a part time basis, working 21.6 hours (3 days) per week, based at Brodsworth Hall and Gardens. The role is part time for a fixed term of 12 months.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the curatorial team at Brodsworth Hall; a beautiful Victorian home built in the 1860s for the Thellusson family. As Assistant Curator, you will lead smaller scale projects around research, access and engagement, and content delivery, and work closely with the Curator to ensure excellent documentation and care of collections. With a collection of over 33,000 objects, no two days will be the same. One day you might catalogue new acquisitions for the collection; the next day your time might be spent developing a public display to share objects never seen before.

Your work will mainly focus on the collections at Brodsworth Hall, however you will have the opportunity to lead smaller projects at Gainsborough Old Hall. You will also occasionally work at the regional store in Helmsley, North Yorkshire.

The Benefits

- Salary from £25,906, pro rata, depending on skills, experience and location

- 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays, pro rata, rising to 28 days after 3 years

- Matched pension contributions up to 10%

- Flexible hours

- The opportunity to progress your career within the heritage sector

- Apprenticeship opportunities

- An inclusive working atmosphere everybody is supported from all backgrounds, religions and with different needs

- Opportunities to go to some of our great live music and history events

To be considered for an Assistant Curator of Collections and Interiors, you'll need to have experience of working with museum collections, ideally in a historic house environment. You will be adept at working with different collection types and materials and have experience engaging audiences of all ages with collections. You should have an aptitude for documentation with meticulous attention to detail, have excellent communication skills, and a flexibility and willingness to adapt to new challenges. We are looking for someone who is reliable, conscientious, and able to work to meet deadlines.

Interviews will be held on Friday 3rd July 2026 at Brodsworth Hall and Gardens, Brodsworth, Doncaster, DN5 7XJ.
