The Certificate Programmes are looking to appoint an Assistant Course Director  to assist with the running of their programme at St Catharine’s College this summer between 19th July and 16th August. 

The Certificate Programmes at St Catharine’s College (University of Cambridge) is an academic study abroad programme for university students that offers cutting-edge subjects designed to complement a student’s existing studies. Students will participate in various academic courses, attend a wide range of activities, field trips and evening talks and live in a Cambridge College. The aim of the programme is to offer participants an experience that will be as close as possible to attending St Catharine's College as a student of the University of Cambridge. 

Role and Responsibilities

The Assistant Course Director is essential in helping to create a welcoming, supportive and encouraging environment for the participants. Main responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Course Director in delivering the academic programme and activities.
  • Liaising with external partners (including the College, University, hotels and travel companies) to support participants with accommodation, catering, travel, safety and security.
  • Communicating with the participants including sending out daily emails and course materials.
  • Ensuring the smooth running of both classes and cultural activities.
  • Being on call for all matters surrounding safeguarding, welfare and discipline.
  • Being a 'face' of the programme - selling the company brand through words and actions.

Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for Fellows, early career scholars and graduate students with extensive knowledge and experience of both St Catharine's College and the University of Cambridge. We welcome applications from individuals who can demonstrate the following skills:

  • A strong sense of character and camaraderie coupled with conscientiousness and responsibility
  • Exceptional leadership skills
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude
  • Able to use their own initiative and take a creative, flexible and collaborative approach to tasks
  • Impeccable time management, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in teaching or event organisation is desirable
  • Welfare training is desirable but further training will be provided
