Job Description:

This is a casual role to support the operational resilience of the service. Shifts will be offered on an ad-hoc basis, mainly to provide cover for annual leave and sickness.

The service is operational 7 days per week, day and night, so flexibility is required to meet the needs of the service. An early shift may start from 9am, and a late shift may finish at Midnight.

Steam House cafes are purpose designed mental health crisis cafes across Norfolk & Suffolk. We offer a unique and safe cafe-styled space with a fully-trained multidisciplinary team, offering holistic support to adults experiencing mental health crisis – day and night.

Drawing on experiences and learnings from decades of assistance to those most vulnerable in our community, STEAM provides clients with a calming and informed environment beneficial to their needs.

Each cafe provides guidance, support and personalised pathway plans, which are mindfully coproduced over a period of time with our team, to enhance future wellbeing for the client.

Main Responsibilities:

• To work in conjunction with managers and other key agencies in developing both policy and associated practice that meet the combined needs of the client group
• To provide individual and bespoke support, information, signposting and access to appropriate and relevant services for those wishing to access the crisis hub
• To be involved in supporting those who have low resilience and are at risk of, or are experiencing a mental health crisis
• To liaise with managers or other appropriate persons to ensure the safety of clients and staff
• To liaise with external agencies regarding presenting clients and any relevant history or risk factors
• Support clients to help identify individual needs and coping strategies, and to help provide and encourage a supportive and safe environment as an alternative to contacting emergency services or attending A&E
• To encourage clients to share knowledge and feedback, in order to provide a holistic and efficient service
• To record and evaluate the impact of interventions using appropriate evaluation tools
• Ensure that appropriate records and documentation are inputted in a timely manner and stored securely on the Access Community Trust (Access) Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, ensuring concerns are reported to the relevant person(s)

Report to Navigator Programme Manager

Work closely with: Anyone affected by leukaemia, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) or myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN). This includes patients, carers and family members. Liaising with hospital staff, nurses, other support charities, care workers and staff at Leukaemia Care.

You will refer patients, carers and family members internally to advocacy, welfare, support groups and other services as appropriate.

Leukaemia Care is the UK’s leading leukaemia charity. For over 50 years, we have been dedicated to ensuring that everyone affected receives the best possible diagnosis, information, advice, treatment and support.

We are here for everyone affected by leukaemia and related blood cancer types – such as myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN).

We provide information, advice and support for anyone affected, this includes patients and their friends and families too. We raise awareness of the issues impacting people affected by leukaemia, MDS and MPN, and campaign to fix them. We are driving early diagnosis, raising public awareness, improving services and ensuring access to effective treatments.

How do we do this? We have a wide-range of services aimed at patients and their loved ones from diagnosis and beyond. Our support services range from nurse-led helplines, support groups and free-of-charge medical information to access to paid counselling, grants for those feeling the financial strain of a diagnosis and providing buddies so people always have somebody to talk to who have experienced something similar to them. Crucial to our work is raising awareness of leukaemia as a blood cancer and the importance for early diagnosis. Leukaemia can be difficult to spot as the symptoms are similar to many other common conditions. Unfortunately, most people are not aware of the signs of leukaemia and this leads to diagnosis being delayed, which can worsen outcomes for patients.

As well as working to educate the general public through our #SpotLeukaemia campaign, we are working closely with our colleagues working in front line medical services to ensure they have the most up-to-date information on diagnosing leukaemia. We know that by raising awareness and working to educate health care professionals, we can save lives and improve outcomes.

Overview

This is an excellent opportunity if you wish to develop your career in patient support and services. Any necessary training will be provided for the successful candidate. 1. The Department

2. The Role

As the Academy Therapist you will be part of a wider Therapy team responsible for providing pitch side emergency aid cover to Academy Players (Pre-Academy up to aged 16 groups), whilst also assisting full time Academy medical and sport science staff in the assessment and rehabilitation of injured players (where required), the delivery of bespoke activation, warm up and individual and group gym/pitch sessions focused on athletic development, and the implementation of specific injury reduction strategies.

3. The Person

To be considered for this role, you will need to hold the following qualifications:

* BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy or BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy

* Membership to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and Registration with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) or Membership to the Society of Sports Therapist or Sports Therapy Association

* UK Driving Licence with access to a vehicle to travel between sites

The successful candidate must be a clear, concise, and accurate communicator with the ability to liaise and build successful relationships with a range of colleagues, players and parents. You will need to be able to demonstrate sound knowledge of applied anatomy and pediatric injuries, ideally in a sporting environment.

While not essential, knowledge of the Elite Player Performance Plan (Category 1 Academy), experience of working within an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary team and a pitch side medical care qualification would be highly advantageous.

You must also be available to work flexibly, predominantly on evenings and weekends.
