Children and young people with complex medical needs, including those with life limiting and life threatening conditions, deserve more than clinical care alone. They deserve loving homes where they can experience the everyday joys of family life, feeling safe, valued and truly at home.
We are looking for dedicated and compassionate individuals and families across England to become Foster Carers, offering care, stability and kindness to children with significant health needs.
Your experience matters
Your healthcare skills can change a child’s life. Many of our foster carers bring valuable transferable skills, including:
- Experience of caring for a child, partner or family member with medical or additional needs
- Backgrounds in health, social care, education, childcare, youth work or caring for your own children
- Parenting experience or experience supporting vulnerable children and young people
Skills such as empathy, patience, reliability, advocacy and emotional resilience are just as important as clinical knowledge. Full specialist training and guidance are provided.
About the children and young people
You may be supporting:
- Babies, children or young people with complex or long term medical needs
- Young people with life limiting or palliative care needs
- Children who need support attending appointments, managing routines or using medical equipment
Above all, these children need foster carers who can offer warmth, reassurance and a sense of belonging.
