Main purpose of the role:
The role of a Fundraising Volunteer is wide and varied! There are lots of opportunities to get involved and you can take part in as many or as few of these as you like, depending on how much time you have available ad what sort of volunteering experience you are looking for.
Most volunteering is at fundraising events or out in our local communities, so it’s lots of fun. You’ll usually be volunteering as part of a team, alongside staff members or experienced volunteers. You will meet lots of supporters and members of the public too.
You’ll also have chance to make a difference in your own local community, if you choose, by putting up posters and helping increase the funds we raise from collecting tins.
Key tasks:
Some of the opportunities available to Fundraising Volunteers are listed below. You do not need to take part in them all!
- Helping out at Hospice events eg. on a registration desk or marshalling routes.
- Representing the Hospice at community fetes and events eg. on a stall.
- Joining a team taking part in street collections / bucket shakes / bag packing.
- Putting up posters in the local community.
- Replacing full collecting tins and re-stocking Hospice merchandise boxes at shops in your local area.
Desirable qualities:
This role would suit someone who is friendly and approachable, who enjoys communicating with people and being part of a team. You will be dependable and will follow through when you commit to take part in something. As an ambassador for the Hospice, you will need to be smartly presented.
The Hospice is committed to the ongoing training and development of volunteers, aiming to provide appropriate training for all volunteers in order to meet statutory obligations and ensure volunteers are well support in performing their role.

The Prince of Wales Hospice provides care to adults with a life-limiting illness, such as cancer, chronic heart or lung disease. The Hospice helps people live as well as possible with their illness and also cares for people at the end of their life.
We are looking for people just like you, to help us. Whatever time or skills you can give you can make a difference to our patients by volunteering with us today. Volunteers touch every aspect of what we do, and we would not be able to continue our vital work without their diverse and valuable contributions.
Who we are looking for:
Individuals to help deliver food and buffets for events, representing the PWH with friendly and welcoming service. No experience needed, just a full UK Driving License.
Ideal for:
Individuals who may be looking to meet new friends, use existing skills or develop new ones and also be happy to work independently. People wishing to boost their CV or gain valuable experience in the charity sector or simply give back to their community.

The Caring Kitchen is the catering service within the Hospice which also offers an external service to raise much needed funds to support the running of the Hospice and the care it provides. The Prince of Wales Hospice provides care to adults with life limiting illness, such as cancer, chronic heart or lung disease, helping people to live as well as possible with their illness and also cares for people at the end of their life.
Joining our bank as Casual Event Catering Staff you will be offered shifts to cover at our catering events, with duties such as serving meals, drinks and setting up for and clearing up after the events. Flexibility is essential as these shifts will include working at different locations locally and on different days of the week, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays. However, this does offer the opportunity for a good work life balance, allowing you to accept shifts that work for you.
We are looking for someone with:
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise workload.
- Good communication skills.
- Helpful and friendly attitude.

Catering Volunteer

Main purpose of the role and duties:
To support the Catering team ensuring a plentiful supply of clean dishes, cutlery and crockery as well as other general kitchen duties.
Key tasks:
· Report to the Cook or in their absence the Catering assistants, upon arrival and upon leaving
· Rinse off dishes and fill the dishwasher (as trained).
· Empty dishwasher, dry or drain dishes and crockery, as trained, and restock areas.
· Assist in the cleaning of the kitchen and catering equipment, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and working at all times under recommenced food Hygiene Regulations.
· Assist staff serving meals on the ward over the tea-time period
· To undertake any other tasks as requested/deemed appropriate with the nature of the role
Desirable qualities:
This role would suit someone with a cheerful personality who is happy to take directions and who can work well in a team.

Are you organised, reliable and looking to support others behind the scenes? We are looking for a Volunteer Admin Assistant to help ensure new volunteers have a smooth and welcoming start with our organisation and can begin their roles quickly and confidently.
This role would be ideal for individuals who may be looking to meet new friends, use existing skills or develop new ones, wish to boost their CV, gain valuable experience in the charity sector or simply give back to their community. Volunteers touch every aspect of what we do, and we would not be able to continue our vital work without their diverse and valuable contributions.
What you’ll be doing:
- Assisting with the volunteer onboarding process
- Scanning, uploading and filing documents
- Checking ID and eligibility document
- Keeping volunteer records up to date
- Providing occasional email or phone support to volunteers regarding onboarding
- General administrative support to the Volunteer Coordinator
What we’re looking for:
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable handling confidential information
- Confident using basic IT systems (email, scanning etc)
- Friendly and supportive communication style
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
Previous admin experience is helpful but not essential — training will be provided.
What you’ll gain:
- Practical experience in administration and volunteer coordination
- Experience working with personal/confidential information — valuable for HR, admin and charity roles
