We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Ward Manager at our prestigious Highgate Hospital. You will be a confident clinical leader who is passionate about delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care within a fast-paced surgical environment. You will provide strong, visible leadership to ensure the efficient running of the Ward where you will oversee day-to-day operations, including staffing, patient flow, workforce planning, and the professional development of staff.
The successful candidate will demonstrate robust clinical skills, strong communication, and the ability to lead, inspire, and develop a team. You will champion evidence-based practice, drive service improvements, and foster a positive culture focused on safety, learning, and continuous improvement.
As a Ward Manager, you will:
- Ensure effective day‑to‑day running of the ward, including patient flow and bed management
- Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges to maximise theatre utilisation
- Oversee patient assessments, care plans, risk management, and discharge planning
- Act as a clinical role model and support complex clinical decision‑making
- Lead, supervise, and motivate the multidisciplinary ward team
- be responsible for rota management, staffing levels, skill mix, and sickness absence
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with surgeons, anaesthetists, and consultants
- Identify opportunities to improve services, pathways, and patient outcomes

We can care for you, from your initial appointment with a consultant and diagnostic tests, through to surgical treatment and rehabilitation. There are minimal waiting times for tests and treatment.

Highgate Private Hospital works with over 150 consultants and other specialists in London. Many of these healthcare professionals also work in the NHS and are leaders in their field.
We employ more than 100 hospital staff, including highly experienced nurses. All of our nurses are registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Overtime
For clinical roles grade 9 and below, the overtime is at a standard rate of pay. For unsocial hours, you’ll be paid an additional enhancement to your salary at the following rates: Nights Hours worked between 7pm and 7am on any day of the week, 30% of basic hourly rate. Weekends Hours worked between 7am and 7pm on a Saturday or Sunday, 20% of basic hourly rate. Bank Holidays Hours worked between midnight and midnight of a bank holiday, 100% of basic hourly rate.
