Venues Team Leader | Arweinydd Tîm Lleoliadau 2026/27
Main Purpose of the Role
To provide operational support to Venues Management across all commercial areas including, but not exclusive to: Y Plas Nightclub, Great Hall Gigs, Box Office, Cloakroom, The Taf, Corporate Events, and Food Court.
Managing teams of 1 to 15 members of staff, being the point of contact between operational areas and Venues Management/Security.
The majority of shifts will be evenings and late nights and will be in loud nightclub environments. There will also be the requirement to assist the facilities team in cleaning customer areas once trade has finished.
You must be able to attend training days on 14th and 15th of September; there are no alternative training days planned.
Interviews will take place on Tuesday June 2nd or Thursday June 4th.
You must also be free to attend a trial shift on Wednesday June 3rd or Wednesday June 10th on a YOLO club night.
After the training on September 14th & 15th, you will be expected to attend shadow shifts with current team leaders.
You must have prior bar experience, and leadership experience (from any sector) to be considered for this role.
You must also be a student for the full 2026/27 academic year to be considered.
Main Duties
- To ensure that staff serve all customers quickly and efficiently, meeting set departmental standards
- To maintain excellent customer service at all times with the aim to exceed customer expectations
- To be responsible and accountable for all stock in your sales area
- To deal with any customer queries or complaints and pass on to a Duty Manager when appropriate
- To ensure that all parts of the venue are clean and tidy at all times
- To be aware of and brief all staff on for each shift including details of set promotions and any relevant event information
- To take an active role in training all members of staff in accordance with departmental training plan
- To serve all customers quickly and efficiently, meeting set departmental standards
- To be aware of current promotions and special offers, upselling where appropriate
- To adhere to all company policies and procedures
- To adhere to all licensing legislation
- To adhere to all food hygiene legislation
- To be responsible for your own Health & Safety and observe all regulations in relation to the Health & Safety at Work Act.
- To be proactive in your approach to all tasks and duties undertaken whilst working within the Venues
Note that this role will require working within a Licensed Premises which involves dispensing and serving alcohol to customers.
Additional Duties
- To carry out any other reasonable tasks as directed by Venues Management
- Help create a positive and encouraging work environment for all staff
- To inform Direct Reports of any wrong doings or inappropriate behaviour
- To attend individual and group meetings throughout the year aimed at addressing the following:
- Reviewing procedures
- Giving ideas on improvements
- Performance reviews
- General updates
Pay Rate/Expected hours: £13.98 per hour/10-15 hours per week. Hours are estimated at 10–15 per week but are not guaranteed and may fluctuate based on trade requirements.
Main Responsibilities
- To be responsible for all stock in your immediate sales area whilst on shift
- To ensure that trading areas are secured at the end of each day / trading period
- To ensure staff compliance to all company policies, procedures and licensing legislation.
- To be responsible for your own Health & Safety and observe all regulations in relation to the Health & Safety at Work Act.
- Staff are encouraged to maximise the Company Environmental & Ethical policies
The Job Purpose should remain constant, but Duties and Responsibilities may vary over time within the overall role and level of the post, according to the needs of the business. The job holder should retain a flexible approach to duties and be prepared to undertake such tasks that from time to time may be required by their Line Manager.
All Venues Team Leaders will be subject to a probationary review period, with role confirmation dependent on evidence of successful training and performance schedule completion.
