Role Title	Upper School Science Main Lesson Teacher
Reporting Relationships	Reports To: Upper School Lead	Key Relationships: School Leadership Team, Upper School Faculty members
Location	Ringwood Waldorf School
Role Purpose	To plan and deliver inspiring Waldorf Upper School Science Main Lessons that enable all students to reach their full academic potential including earning qualifications. Empower students to analyze data, evaluate evidence, and build a grounded understanding of themselves and the world around them, equipping them to make well-informed choices as thoughtful, capable young adults.

Role Accountabilities

1. Teach, in an age appropriateway, science in the UpperSchool	• Plan, initiate and guide study which meets Ringwood WaldorfSchool curriculum requirementsFoster class/age appropriate thought and discussionUndertake appropriate preparation, syllabi, study and trainingas necessary for the effective delivery of the curriculumexpectations
2. Ensure an effectivemonitoring mechanism is inplace per class to ensure theongoing achievement ofyearly curricular expectations	● Supervise and manage the pupils in accordance with their ageand abilitiesCreate age/class appropriate assessments and evaluate theirattainment accordinglyDifferentiate the tasks set according to abilityProvide individual subject reports as and when requiredProvide assessment results/teaching update to the SchoolLeadership Team as required
3. Perform class subjectstatutory requirements	0 Responsible for record keeping in accordance with statutoryand school requirements Manage classroom behaviour in accordance with the schoolpupil code of conduct0 Adhere to national safeguarding legislation (including KCSIE)and school child protection policies at all times.

4.Support the management andoperations of the schoollaboratory		Provide experiments and demonstrations for pupils withsupport from the lab technician Support the maintenance and organisation of the school labEnsure all practical demonstrations, student experiments, andchemical handlings strictly adhere to CLEAPSS, COSHH, andUK Health & Safety guidelinesEnsure risk assessments are appropriate and up to dateWork with the lab technician on stock taking and orderingrelevant to your role
5. Maintain an involvement inthe wider teaching staff andcommunity initiatives andadhere to all school policiesand procedures		Promote science and the value that it brings across the schoolCommunicate routinely and constructively with colleagues,students and parents.Adhere to the school's policies, procedures and support their implementation including but not limited to the Code ofConduct and the ethos, principles and objectives of the schooland teaching staff

Financial:Management of the science department consumablebudget and teaching materials relevant to mainlessons taught.				Non-financial:Responsibility for students across Upper School(Classes 9–12 / Ages 14–18); oversight of sciencelaboratory equipment and materials.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
Knowledge andExperience	Experience and proficiency for teaching pupils aged 14-18.Up to date understanding and knowledge of science, and ongoing interest incurrent scientific fields.Preferably experience working in a scientific field.Understanding of GLP, CLEAPSS guidance, COSHH and GHS (particularly inregards to chemical storage).Experience and understanding of stock-take and chemical ordering methods.Understanding general Laboratory Risk Assessment in relation to students.
Education andQualifications	Science degree (or higher)Preferably QTS and/or a full and recognised Waldorf teaching qualification
Job Specific TechnicalSkills	Display a love of teaching which serves to motivate and encourage students.Ability to build rapport, engage young people and inspire with their enthusiasmfor learning.Ability to communicate the value of science to those who don't intend to be ascientist, and the value of other subjects to those that do.Detailed planning and strong organisational skillsSkilled in Good Laboratory PracticeAbility to effectively use IT including cloud storage, email, and presentations.
