At Youth Fed, we’re committed to supporting young people to thrive. As part of our Your Mind Matters team, we’re looking for a passionate and skilled Mental Health Practitioner to support young people aged 10–29 engaged in uniformed groups across Cheshire.

This is a rewarding, community-based role where you’ll deliver early intervention support, helping young people better understand and manage their mental health — and ensuring they get the right support at the right time.

About the role

You’ll work directly with young people through a mix of 1:1 support and group-based sessions, delivering low to moderate intensity interventions.

Alongside this, you’ll play an important role in supporting group leaders and volunteers, giving them the confidence and tools to better support the young people they work with.

This is a varied and meaningful role, combining direct delivery, early intervention, and wider impact across the community.

What you’ll be doing

  • Delivering 1:1 and group-based mental health support to young people
  • Supporting young people with challenges such as anxiety, low mood, and emotional wellbeing
  • Assessing needs and helping develop practical, personalised support plans
  • Helping young people access wider services where needed
  • Providing guidance and advice to group leaders and volunteers
  • Contributing to mental health awareness and capability within uniformed groups
  • Working as part of a supportive team across Cheshire

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Qualified or working towards a qualification in mental health, counselling, psychology or a related field
  • Passionate about supporting children and young people
  • Confident delivering support both 1:1 and in groups
  • Able to build strong, trusting relationships
  • Organised and able to manage a varied workload

What we offer

  • Clinical supervision
  • Opportunity to deliver meaningful early intervention work
  • Supportive and friendly team environment
  • Flexible working
  • The chance to build experience towards professional accreditation
  • A role where you can see the real impact of your work

Additional information

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is required
  • Some evening and occasional weekend work may be required
