Tutor – Domestic and Sexual Abuse Support Worker Apprenticeship
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Tutor to deliver the Domestic and Sexual Abuse Support Worker apprenticeship standard. This role involves guiding apprentices through the programme, ensuring they acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviours to support individuals affected by domestic and sexual abuse effectively. We have integrated the OCN Level 3 Certificate in Domestic Abuse: Prevention and Early Intervention into our Apprenticeship programme and the tutor will be expected to teach and assess this qualification.

Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging sessions aligned with the standard, covering topics such as safeguarding, trauma-informed practices, and multi-agency collaboration. You will be expected to deliver integrated Functional Skills English and Maths teaching as well as skilfully covering wider curriculum areas required as part of Apprenticeships.
Assessment & Feedback: Conduct formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support apprentice development, and complete the OCN Level 3 Certificate in Domestic Abuse: Prevention and Early Intervention qualification prior to Gateway.
Individual Support: Offer personalized guidance to apprentices, addressing diverse learning needs and promoting inclusivity.
Progress Monitoring: Track apprentice progress, maintaining accurate records and reporting to relevant stakeholders. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure successful learner completion.
Quality Assurance: Ensure all teaching and assessment practices meet internal and external quality standards and policies, participating in audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
Professional Development: Stay updated with sector developments, integrating best practices into teaching and learning activities.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Educational Background: A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training).
Industry Experience: Substantial experience working in domestic and/or sexual abuse support services, with a deep understanding of the sector’s challenges and best practices, and extensive experience delivering training.
Safeguarding Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
Assessment Qualifications: Possession of an assessor qualification (e.g., TAQA, A1).
Digital Literacy: Proficiency in utilising digital platforms for teaching and assessment purposes.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse learner groups.
