We need volunteers willing to visit patients in their own homes – as well as helping them feel less isolated you’ll provide companionship and short periods of respite for carers. You’ll spend two or three hours a week doing this – at times that suit you and the patient.
We’d like you to……
Visit patients in their homes to offer companionship and emotional support
Provide a listening ear and engage in meaningful conversation
Do some light, non-clinical tasks, like making a cup of tea, reading, or just sitting with them
Help reduce feelings of loneliness and social isolation
Offer respite support for family members and carers
Encourage wellbeing through gentle activities suited to the patient’s interests and abilities
Maintain appropriate boundaries and respect confidentiality at all times
Communicate any concerns or changes in a patient’s wellbeing to the hospice team
This role is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
