Trustee - Strode Park Foundation

About the Role

Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of disabled people and their families? Strode Park Foundation is looking for committed, forward-thinking people to join our Council of Management as Trustees.

This rewarding voluntary role offers the opportunity to help shape the future of our charity, provide strategic input, and support our mission to deliver outstanding care and support to our service users.

Job Opportunity

About the role

The mission of Strode Park Foundation is to provide high quality care and support to people with disabilities. A key responsibility of a Council of Management member is to be a ‘Guardian of the Mission’.

In practical terms this means taking an overview of the activities of the charity, ensuring that all agreed strategic decisions are aligned to the charity’s mission and are implemented in accordance with the values of the charity.

The current Council of Management are a highly skilled and dedicated group of people and we’re looking to strengthen this. We are keen to hear from people from the following areas:

  • Legal
  • Human Resources
  • Healthcare
  • Experts by experience

Council Members can also put themselves forward for election to the role of Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer or for one of the two additional positions that make up the Executive Committee.

The Executive Committee meets with the Chief Executive and Director of Finance more frequently than the Council of Management (approximately once every six weeks) and plays a more active advisory and monitoring role of day-to-day senior management and strategic decisions.

It is also possible that members of the Council of Management could be asked to play a role in interviewing or shortlisting procedures during recruitment of senior managers (e.g. Chief Executive, Director of Care, Director of Finance).

Time commitment

Council members will attend and contribute to quarterly Council of Management meetings which are currently scheduled for the last Wednesday of March, June, September, and November.

The meetings start at 2pm and are usually end by 4pm.

You’ll need to have read the reports and updates in advance of the meetings.

There are also two online training modules in ‘Safeguarding’ and ‘GDPR’ to complete each year.
