Are you looking to build a meaningful career in Health & Safety while making a genuine difference to people’s lives?
At Avenues Group, we support people with learning disabilities, autism, acquired brain injury and complex needs to live the lives they choose.
We’re now looking for a proactive and motivated Trainee Health & Safety Advisor to join our growing team.
This is an exciting development opportunity for someone who wants to grow a long-term career in Health & Safety within a values-led care organisation. You’ll work closely with our Group Health & Safety Lead, gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of environments while being supported to develop your professional knowledge and qualifications.
This role requires travel between services and sites, so flexibility and willingness to travel are essential. We do cover mileage and travel expenses.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll support the delivery of a positive and proactive health and safety culture across our services and offices by:
- Supporting health & safety inspections, audits and site visits
- Assisting with incident investigations and reporting
- Helping managers and teams understand safe working practices
- Supporting compliance with UK health & safety legislation and CQC requirements
- Assisting with risk assessments, policies and procedures
- Helping track actions, compliance data and safety records
- Supporting training and awareness sessions across services
No two days will be the same — you’ll work with operational teams, managers and support staff across a variety of care settings.
What We’re Looking For
We’re not necessarily looking for someone with extensive Health & Safety experience already. We’re looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about keeping people safe
- Organised and eager to learn
- Confident communicating with different people
- Interested in developing a career in Health & Safety
- Calm, professional and solutions-focused
- Comfortable working across varied environments
You may already have experience in:
- Care or support services
- Housing
- Healthcare
- Compliance or administration
- Facilities or operational support
A basic understanding of health & safety legislation is helpful, but a genuine willingness to learn is essential.
What You’ll Gain
This role is designed to support your development into a fully competent Health & Safety professional.
We’ll support you with your professional development and training incl recognised qualifications.
Why Join Avenues?
At Avenues, people matter, both the people we support and the people who work for us. We are committed to:
- Compassionate and person-centred care
- Continuous improvement
- Creating safe and supportive environments
- Equality, diversity and inclusion
- Supporting career development and progression
As part of our commitment to the “Disability Confident Scheme”, candidates who declare a disability, and meet the key criteria for this role, will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities at interview stage.
