Job Summary

Do you have a passion for gardening and the outdoors? Are you interested in helping to maintain and develop over 79,000 square metres of gardens and grounds? We have an exciting opportunity within St Fagans’ gardening team.

As a Trainee Gardener, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop the practical horticultural skills required to support the Historic Gardens Team's programme of work. Working alongside experienced gardeners, you will gain valuable knowledge of traditional gardening techniques while helping to maintain and enhance our historic landscapes.

You will achieve this by working in the historic gardens alongside members of the Historic Gardens Team and studying for RHS Level 2 or RHS Level 3 if the RHS Level 2 is already obtained. Further career development opportunities may be possible following completion of the apprenticeship.

This Trainee Garden Conservator post has been developed to:

  • Provide training to meet the needs for succession planning.
  • Ensure the Historic Gardens Team has the necessary resources and in-house traditional horticultural skills to conserve the historic gardens at St Fagans National Museum of History.
