Team Leader (Fife)

Context

Working in our innovative Housing first for Youth service and our Short-Term Housing Support service. This role will support a team of practitioners working with young people throughout Fife, to deliver case management and direct support achieving their project outcomes. Leading and responding to practitioners needs to ensure that regulatory standards are met, and policies and procedures are implemented. Leading the service team to ensure that we provide quality services, reaching our funder and organisational targets. Part of a highly collaborative team, the Team Leader reports directly to the Service Manager and works alongside the other Team Leaders to develop good practice and support the team.

Responsibilities

  • To participate appropriately in the direct provision of support to service users.
  • Scheduling and prioritising the work of the team, allocating tasks and activities and monitoring progress against targets.
  • Participate in the referral, selection and placement process to ensure available places are appropriately and promptly filled.
  • Promote and maintain an ethos that promotes service user involvement across services.
  • To participate fully in operational planning and delivery of services across the organisation.
  • To develop and sustain links with individuals, groups, agencies and professional bodies in the statutory, voluntary and private sector and to actively promote Rock Trust’s services.
  • To exercise initiative and judgement on how to address and resolve daily problems with limited guidance from more senior colleagues.
  • To contribute and assist in the preparation of publicity materials produced by Rock Trust as required.
  • To support the preparation of board and funding reports and to support their presentation, where required.
  • To work with colleagues across the management team to seek and secure resources for the operation and development of the services.
  • To review, monitor and maintain a system for gathering and processing relevant statistics and information to evaluate the effectiveness of the service and implement agreed quality improvements and changes.
  • To ensure that Health and Safety and appropriate Risk Management actions are undertaken.
  • To be aware of the composition of the annual budget and in conjunction with the Manager, seek and secure resources for the operation and development of a cost-efficient service.

Line manage and provide formal and informal support to allocated staff, students and/or volunteers.

Provide effective and professional leadership, supporting and promoting the activities of Rock Trust and contributing significantly to building a high performing organisation.

To provide visible leadership and motivate staff to ensure that delegated responsibilities are achieved, and effective communication maintained.

Nurture a culture of Respect, Safety, Positivity and Fairness, that allows our colleagues to thrive, take appropriate risks and learn from mistakes.

Increase our management level networks, building relationships with leaders, partners, commissioners and funders.

Identify and make recommendations for improvement to contribute to the continuous operational improvement of the organisation.

  • To act in accordance with Rock Trust values.
  • To deputise for the Service Manager in their absence.
  • To participate in the “on call” rota in accordance with agreed guidelines.
  • To undertake other duties in line with the role as required.

Person Specification

  • A willingness to work towards a practice qualification that meets the criteria recognised by the SSSC.
  • Vocational experience demonstrating development through involvement in progressively more demanding work/roles – highlighting relevant transferable skills
  • Evidence of leaderships skills.
  • Knowledge of homelessness, mental health, and isolation issues.
  • Experience of direct work with disadvantaged young people.
  • Excellent ability to evaluate and work collaboratively to improve service quality.
  • Excellent ability to generate, nurture and influence strong partnerships.
  • The willingness and ability to travel and adapt to changing work locations as necessary; a full UK driving license and access to a car [OR] access to suitable transport are required.
  • A practice qualification that meets the criteria recognised by the SSSC
  • Experience of a supervisory role.
  • Experience of managing and monitoring budgets.
  • Experience of developing, improving and growing services.
